Braemar Youth Hostel is housed in a former shooting lodge in extensive grounds in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. It offers a mix of traditional interiors and modern furnishings, offering an ideal base for outdoor activities and exploring Royal Deeside, the Cairngorms, Glenshee and The Lecht. The hostel has a lounge with sofas, a large self-catering kitchen and a dining room. The youth hostel also provides a good range of rooms including many private and dorms. Local activities include skiing and snowboarding at Glenshee and The Lecht, while Balmoral Castle and the surrounding estate are open during the summer months. You can also visit many distilleries nearby. Dogs are now welcome at Braemar when booking private room. A small fee of GBP 5 per dog per night will be charged. Please note that all dogs must be booked in advance to ensure that a dog friendly room is allocated. Hostelling Scotland is a charity and membership organisation. For non-members, a supplement per person, per night will be added to the published rate. See Important Information for more details.

Full payment for all bookings will be charged at the time of booking. All major credit & debit cards are accepted excluding American Express.
All bookings will include a temporary membership fee per person per night. (Full, existing members of Hostelling Scotland and HI using these channels are not entitled to a membership refund).
Individual reservations (Up to 9 persons) - can cancel free of charge until 3 days before the arrival date. If cancelled within the 3 days before the arrival 100 percent of the total price will be charged.
Groups reservations (more than 9 persons) - different policies and additional supplements will apply. More than 8 weeks (57 days or more) 20% of total cost. 8 – 4 weeks (56- 29 days) 55% of total cost. 4 – 0 weeks (28 - 0 day) 100% of total cost.
No stag or hen parties are permitted at any youth hostel.
Should guests be entitled to a refund or part refund please note that these are processed by Hostelling Scotland National Office, Stirling. It may take 7 to 10 working days from the date of cancellation request for the refund to be processed back onto the original card used.
From the age of 12 to 15 years, young people must be accompanied by a parent or guardian of the same gender when booking a bed within shared accommodation. Parties with young children (under 12 years) will only be accommodated in private rooms, where available
Hostelling Scotland advise that additional notice be given to the destination youth hostel when travelling with children, to ensure that suitable accommodation is available. There is no capacity for extra beds or cots.
Check-in from 17.00 until 21.30 and check-out from 07.00-10.00. Reception opening times do vary; Sunday to Thursday opens 07.00-10.00 and 17.00-21.30. Friday and Saturday opens 07.00-10.00 and 17.00-22.00. Late arrival and access outside the opening hours by pre-arrangement only.
