Nearby overlooking a large loop in the beautiful River Wye is the historic market town of Ross-on-Wye. This picturesque town has timbered Tudor houses clustered around the striking 17th century Market Hall, and there are excellent shops, tea shops, pubs and restaurants to suit every taste. The magnificent Royal Forest of Dean boasts many trails which can be enjoyed on foot, bicycle or horseback or why not try your hand at fishing, golf, canoeing or caving all of which can be enjoyed in the area. Try the local wine at the Three Choirs Vineyard or visit the waterfront Cathedral City of Gloucester with its Victorian docklands and Norman Cathedral or see the Mappa Mundi in the Norman Cathedral at Hereford.
