Ellie cooks a great Scottish breakfast. Lovely cottage with a garden where we were able to use our portable BBQ.

Ellie was so friendly and helpful. The room was bright and lovely. The house was gorgeous, with easy access to everywhere on Gigha. The excellent cooked breakfast was an added bonus.

Achamore Lodge was built in 1895 and has been home to gamekeepers, gardeners, factors, holiday makers and now myself and my dogs Luna and Archie. Nestling in trees to the south of the island, the house was the Lodge house for Achamore House and later it’s world famous Achamore Gardens. It is a wonderfully peaceful place. With private gardens to the front with ‘tropical’ trees which host a spectrum of birds. Achamore Lodge has spacious and comfortable guest rooms which open onto the gardens. Each room has a king size bed and a single bed. I market it here as being for 2 adults, but a family can also bring a child with no extra cost. I only take one family unit as a time so you get exclusive use of the bathroom. I offer bed and breakfast and also run retreat weekends where there will be a focus on singing, music or art. There is limited mobile reception, but we do have clean air, wide skies, bird song and musical instruments aplenty. There is also now wifi! The breakfasts are all home cooked, with home made pancakes and my own preserves. Eggs come straight from the hens who live in my back garden. Come visit, come relax, come enjoy Gigha.
Hi, I am Ellie and I run Achamore Lodge. I live with Luna the loopy Springador, 2 gingers cats called Craig and Charlie (who do not go into guest spaces...) and 11 chickens. My son is away at university but when at home helps out with wood chopping. I really enjoy running the B&B and welcoming people from all over the world to this beautiful island. Being an islander means I have several jobs. I work part time in the post office, have some internet based consultancy work, run music sessions and teach music and as of 2020 am running a community theatre project on the mainland. I am also developing the garden and restoring it to its former glory, as well as getting the vegetable and fruit growing established. People did ask when I moved here 'what I would do'. I am never bored!
The Isle of Gigha is situated just off Kintrye and is the most southerly Hebridean Island. It is a unique island, lush and green with clear blue-green seas and white sands. On a sunny day in summer it can feel Caribbean. Just seven miles long, with one main road and many walking tracks there is a relaxed pace of life. It may be small but Gigha is packed with things to do and see. The island has its own website where you can find out more about what to do and what is going on. To get to Gigha by car you drive the A83 to Tayinloan and can either leave your car there, or bring it over on the ferry. The ferry runs every hour and only takes 20 minutes. Public transport options include the bus from Glasgow To Campbeltown - Or the twice daily flights between Glasgow and Campbeltown. Once on Gigha, we have a well stocked local shop, a hotel with public bar, gallery and coffee shop and in the summerthe Michelin rated Boathouse restaurant. But most of all we have stunning beaches, views, sunsets and peace....
