The property was spotless on arrival and communication beforehand was spot on, the welcome pack was a lovely touch as well. Very comfy and a wonderful shower (very important after running in this weather!), and the little garden was a hidden gem...

A warm and cosy cottage, in the heart of the village a perfect base for experiencing the beauty of the surrounding countryside. A pub opposite with their own micro brewery and home cooked food. There are plenty of footpaths and cycle trails meandering through the beautiful Durham Dales and North Pennines, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Within easy reach of the Lake District and Northumberland (Hadrians Wall). Pets are welcome, maximum of 2 dogs. The cottage has been recently renovated, with controllable heaters, usb sockets and high speed broadband with smart TV. Games room is insulated and has a heater with dartboard and pool table. Modern up to date area in the garden with seating, firepit and barbecue. Also to note there is an outside toilet and sink for your convenience. Mass of information left in the lounge detailing walks, maps and things to do in the area. Wooden box with old fashioned games can be found under the pew. Basket of logs to enjoy the wood burner in the lounge. Enjoy a costa coffee from the tassimo machine and drink from the Alex Clark mugs (local artist if you like the mugs can be purchased in Stanhope from the Lime Gallery). For more information stonecarrs website.
Will find white egyptian linen on the beds and fluffy white towels. Key safe access which I will email you the access code.
With Slitt Wood close by to explore or head onto the heather topped Dales and visit the spectacular sights such as Cauldren Snout, High Force or High Cup Nick. Other highlights of this tranquil area include dark skies for star gazing and an abundance of wildlife and wildflowers. Escaping the peace of the Dales, you can head for a day visiting bustling city of Durham, which is home to the magnificent Cathedral, riverside walks as well as shops, cinema and theatre. For castles Bishop Auckland or Raby Castle nearby. Hadrians Wall with the towns Hexham and Corbridge worth a visit. A great opportunity to stay and visit the incredible live action packed Kynren performance- An Epic Tale of England, which is hosted outdoor at nearby Bishop Auckland. 17 performances between June and September.
