In the heart of Shakespeare’s Stratford upon Avon lies a cosy little bolt hole. No 2 College Lane is nestled amongst the narrow backstreets of Old Town. It is a stone's throw from Holy Trinity Church and The Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Perfect for a few days away to savour the beautiful river walks, local history and great pubs and restaurants. No 2 College lane is a 10 minute walk from the centre of Stratford and the theatre and 5 minutes from Holy Trinity Church and the beautiful river Avon.

I grew up in Stratford upon Avon and returned to raise my family here. I live just around the corner from the property to be on hand for any questions or to guide guests on the best places to visit during their stay.

The centre of this beautiful town is a 10-minute walk from College Lane. If you choose to walk into town, you will arrive at the bustling tourist haven which welcomes between 2.5 million and 3 million visitors per year from around the globe. You will see Shakespeare’s houses along with many other original Tudor buildings, beautifully restored and tastefully renovated. There really is something for everyone with its mix of independent cafes, restaurants and shops. If you turn right onto any of the little streets off the main route, you will arrive by the river Avon. Here you can enjoy a river cruise or hire a small boat or canoe whilst enjoying the beauty of the river with its wonderful array of wildlife. Alongside the main bridge that crosses the river, sits the Bancroft canal basin, surrounded by delightful gardens overlooking the world-famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre. The Bancroft Gardens are home to numerous street performers and musicians throughout the warmer months and you will see both tourists and locals all enjoying the entertainment, whilst enjoying a picnic or a cup of coffee from Carluccio’s or one of the floating food and drink barges. Sundays see the popular riverside market and on Fridays and Saturdays you can also visit Rother Street Market.
