The nearest town, Periers, is around 4 km from the property and offers all necessary amenities, such as banks, bars and bistros, Carrefour supermarket, and several excellent boulangeries/patisseries, butchers and grocers. There is a small market on Saturday mornings offering fresh local produce. The local area is home to numerous recreational activities such as golf, riding, and family-friendly walking/cycling along the extensive network of traffic-free routes made from disused railway lines (the ‘voie verte’). Beaches on the west or east coasts of the Cotentin peninsula can be reached in 20-30 minutes’ drive, including the D-Day landing beaches with a multitude of associated museums to explore. Attractions such as le Mont Saint Michel abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and l’Ile Tatihou are around an hour’s drive away. Other notable towns and cities within easy reach include Caen, Bayeux for its tapestries, ancient fishing ports such as Barfleur and Honfleur, and Villedieu-les-Poeles for its copperwork.
