The perfect wind down destination. Bird song and vineyards all around you. Spacious comfortable rooms and lounge areas. Dominique is an excellent cook and her husband a passionate winemaker. Ideal stop if you are in the Nyons area.

Breakfast was super romantic, outside. sitting looking over the hills. in beautiful calm and sunshine. The best bit though was the cooking done by the hostess. She is such an excellent cook and made la cuisine provencale come to life.

Company information

An important date? “2001: a lifestyle change from a consultant in a Paris office to the Drôme Provençale region and the vineyard, to make wine and set up a bed and breakfast business.” Five key words? “Respect for nature. Respect for the vine, grape and wine. Respect for Man.” “A dream to see Man and Nature in harmony.” “Spirit.” A vocation ? « Organiser or even creator. » A passion or talent? “A catalyst for ideas.” Why organic? “Why not? I’m convinced that the “money society” (and therefore, chemical agriculture) has no future if man wants to continue to live on this planet. The wine economic sector doesn’t need to race towards yield but can offer enjoyment and quality. In the vineyards of the southern Rhône valley, it is much easier to cultivate organically than elsewhere in France. And because I much prefer to give the vines and wines the freedom to express themselves as naturally as possible.” And in five years’ time? “Without a doubt in paradise! But not the one you’re thinking of! Just simply here, right next to Nyons, since the great Provençal romantic and environmental writer, Jean Giono, compared our beautiful region to paradise on earth.”

Property information

Domaine de Provensol is a vineyard where we offer organic wines in keeping with our beautiful environment. You can have a guided visit of our cellar followed by a tasting session with comments from Dominique (the tall one). The bed and breakfast business, managed by Dominique (the small one), is where we offer you an evening meal with us and your fellow guests in the vaulted cellar dining room. On the menu are several starters, a meat main course and side dish, cheeses and dessert. Everything is home-made, from local or organic produce and prepared in a Provençal style. Domaine de Provensol wines are served with your dinner. If you wish to dine with us, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance (if not, as soon as possible) since we only cook with fresh produce. We have a Jacuzzi available for your use (at an additional charge). It’s also possible to have a well-being massage during your stay. Please let us know as soon as possible so we can get in touch with the masseuse.

Neighbourhood information

Sunshine, tranquillity, nature, ancient rocks, escapism, respect for the environment and a family welcome. At the foot of the Provençal Alps, we benefit from a Mediterranean climate and its sunshine. The landscape features spectacular views. There are wonderful walks and areas to explore all around the Domain – on foot, bicycle, motorbike or car. A few kilometres away is Nyons with its famous black olives and ancient town, Vaison and its Roman remains, Grignan and the castle of the Marquise de Sévigné, Suze with its fortified castle and hidden Renaissance centre. Further afield is Orange and its ancient theatre, Avignon and the Palace of the Popes and Mont Ventoux. Summer sees the landscapes carpeted in lush violet lavender. Some enjoy the water parks at Nyons or Vinsobres as well as Cornillon Lake and the mountain streams. Autumn brings the grape harvests and the magnificent sight of all the vegetation in startlingly bright colours, from gold to purple. A Saturday winter morning “must-do” is a visit to the truffle market at Richerenches to enjoy a plate of scrambled eggs with truffles. Spring arrives with an explosion of flowers and aromas, the first vegetables and fruits.
