We both 'fell in love' with Burgundy from the very first visit: the wines, the picturesque villages, the ambience of daily life.... We rapidly set out in search of the perfect property for our maison d'hotes, and all 4 hands are now working to welcome our guests - gastronomy, cooking, wines and the delights and history of the region - we can't wait to share our passions with you.

In the heart of Burgundy, nestled between the town of Beaune and the River Saone, you will find Domaine De L'Oiseau, a charming Maison d'Hotes in Gergy. Situated overlooking the river, the 17th century domaine was in former times, a refuge for boat men and an ancient hunting lodge. Now entirely renovated using exclusively local artisans and authentic materials, respecting it's long history, the Domaine offers a high level of comfort with modern and luxurious interiors. Domaine de l'Oiseau comprises 3 main buildings around the courtyard, at the heart of a vast 3 hectare park, complete with heated pool. There is a enviable view out to the river Saone from the terrasses and the great spaces within the garden. The main house hosts the reception, diner and breakfast (in the cooler months, and on the terrasse in season). The vast lounge, is warm and welcoming with it's magnificent stone fireplace. The bedrooms are situated around the courtyard bedhind the main house, offering each room with an independant entrance. The ancient grange offers relaxation in the peaceful environment of the library as well as the wine cellar, where tastings can be arranged.

Cycling - Situated on the Voie Bleu cycle route linking the Green Route, there are over 700km of perfect trails leading around the river, canals, villages and wine routes. Cycle hire can be organised. Beaune, capital of Burgundy wines and it's unique history. It's heritage must be discovered - Hospice de Beaune (Hotel-Dieu), the Basilique Notre-Dame and the Ramparts of the town. Strolling at your leisure, the Bouzaize Park, the mignificent Saturday market, ... genuine priveleged moments. Of course wine is everywhere ... visit the historic caves to taste the delicoius nectars, visit the Museum des Climats to learn the history of the 'terroir de Bourgogne' Following the Route of The Grands Crus wine villages, north to Nuits St George, Clos de Vougeot, Gevrey-Chambertin onto the city of Dijon. Heading south through Pommard, Volnay, Meursalt, Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet to Santenay - the vines out-lining the land, meeting vignerons who will open their cellars. South from Gergy, to Chalon-sur-Soane, by car or cycle. Birthplace of photography - visit the Museum of Nicephore Niepce, Place St Vincent and the beautiful cathedral. The Sunday market is not to be missed.
