Located in the Port Vell, one of the oldest areas of the city and its historical center, The Onsider Mercè is an ancient and historic building from 1598 previously known as Casa Verdaguer, whose architectural project is led by the renowned Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura . As part of Bofill’s proposal, in collaboration with the Heritage of Barcelona, it was decided to completely renovate the building while preserving relevant structures such as the facades, both the exterior facing Plata and Mercè streets, as well as the interior facade of the typical courtyard found in Port Vell buildings. Bofill’s postmodernist legacy becomes evident in a fresh project that preserves the past by blending it with new trends and paying attention to the smallest detail, creating Mercè as an impressive new luxury residential building for adventurous cosmopolitan individuals who choose Barcelona as their home away from home.
