Pensión Portugal is located in the centre of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, less than 200 metres from Las Ramblas. This guest house features a 24-hour reception and some rooms with balconies. The Portugal’s simple rooms have parquet floors and modern, lightly coloured décor. All rooms have a TV, some rooms have a private bathroom and some have a shared bathroom. Free Wi-Fi is also available. Pensión Portugal is within walking distance of many of Barcelona Old Town’s cafés and restaurants. Plaza Reial’s bars and nightclubs are just a 5-minute walk from the guest house. The Pensión is a few minutes' walk from Barcelona Port and 700 metres from the city’s Cathedral. The guest house is set 200 metres from Drassanes Metro Station, just 2 stops from Plaza de Catalunya Metro and Train Station.

Pension Hostal Portugal was founded in 2002 as a Family business The beginning was hard since Barcelona did not have the tourist level that it has today, but thanks to its unbeatable location and the experience of the Family in the hotel sector, we can say that Pension Hostal Portugal, is today a benchmark in the tourist area of ​​our beloved city, Barcelona. In our accommodation you will find a human team very familiar and close, willing to make your stay as pleasant as possible. If we can differentiate ourselves from the rest of the accommodations, it is our love for recycling and ecology. Most of our furniture is recycled from markets, where they were rescued and brought back to life with new paintings and finishes. In the eagerness to recycle, our establishment supports the cause of the most destitute of society and that is why all shampoos, bath gel, toothpaste and other hygiene items that our customers leave in our establishment, are donated to hospitals

The hostel was renovated a few months ago and since then has made considerable changes in its rooms, new furniture, parquet floors, new decoration, etc. They give you a warmer and more welcoming atmosphere. The strong point of our hostel, is undoubtedly its location, in the heart of the Gothic quarter and surrounded by all the services, shopping, leisure and restoration, which make your stay in Barcelona an unforgettable place.

Neighbourhood information

We are located in the most touristic area of the city, the Gothic quarter, in the vicinity of Ramblas, port and beach. We do not lack anything, from museums, such as Picasso, the Macba, the chocolate museum, through churches and cathedrals, such as the Mercé basilica, the Church of Santa Maria del Mar or the Cathedral of Barcelona. The famous Paseo de Las Ramblas is a step away from the Hostal, there you can walk the exact kilometer that passes by fun human statues, many restaurants. bars, cafes, kiosks with all kinds of press or tourism articles, the great market of La Boquería, the great theater of the Liceu and so on to the Plaza de Catalunya, the neuralgic center of the city.
