La Bruguera is a unique eco homestead, for retreats, holidays, training camps and events. Fully-modernised from 2015 – 2019, it was built between 1978 and 1981, for Catalan landscape painter Francesc d’Assís Casademont “Le Vieux”, a friend and contemporary of Salvador Dalí’s. It runs on 100% renewable energy, grows a huge amount of food, provides environmental education experiences and masterclasses, and is the best place on the Costa Brava if you want to focus on yourself at little cost to the environment. We are passionate about providing environmentally-positive holiday experiences in our unique eco-homestead. The estate is a living lab of eco initiatives, which we love sharing with our guests, who come for family fun, cycling, yoga, eco-learning, forest bathing, or to relax by the pool after a home-brewed cocktail. Mike is of Irish & Canadian origins, and has spent periods of his life in Japan, Switzerland, France, Chile then almost 20 years in London. Educated in Philosophy, Social Psychology, Urban Design, Architecture and Sustainability, he spent almost two decades dedicated to urban sustainability projects, for international development, in various far-flung corners of the world, including Catalonia. Michelle was born in South Africa, to a UK/US family, has lived on four continents and travelled extensively. After growing up in Asia and studying in the US, she spent 20 years in London. She is a mixed media artist and an art psychotherapist, and studied Fine Art, Art History, Social Policy, and Art Psychotherapy. She has worked in project and operations management at two London universities, an art psychotherapist, a social worker, and a children's advocate.
We are located a few hundred metres south of the medieval village of Púbol, site of the Gala and Salvador Dali castle museum, in the Baix Empordà region of Girona province, which borders France to the North, the Mediterranean Sea to the East, the Pyrenees and Garrotxa mountains to the West, and the Catalan capital region of Barcelona, to the South.
