Restored typical Asturian 100 year old detached country house in the village of El Cueto Meré in the Valley of Ardisana, near the Picos de Europa National Park and numerous beaches in the Llanes area. Don’t expect luxury. Expect rural, cosy and quaint. Decor in traditional style . Fully equipped with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, pantry, small lounge with TV, barbecue, garage and terrace. The house is perfect for getaways for families+ friends.
I am an Anglo Russian woman who has lived in Spain for more than thirty years. Born in Cambridge in the UK but brought up in West Yorkshire, I married a Spaniard, Eladio, from Leon, a retired teacher of philosophy. I have a degree in Hispanic Studies from Nottingham University and I have worked all my professional career in marketing and communication roles in the telecoms sector in Spain (Motorola, Nokia, Yoigo/TeliaSonera) and today I am a freelance communications consultant. We have 2 daughters. One is a dietitian and teacher of English living in Bali. The other is a TV reporter in Madrid who recently became a mother and delighted us by giving us our first grandchild. I have been writing a blog for more than 15 years with weekly posts about my life and what is going on in the world. My passions are my family, our homes (yes the homes you will come to), our dogs, walking, eating good food, cooking, travelling and reading among other things. Delightful old country house totally off the beaten track in Asturias part of what is known as Green Spain; the lush coast in the north of the country that spreads from the border of Portugal to the border of France. El Cueto de Meré is a small old farming village 15km from the Picos and 10 or so kms from numerous beautiful beaches. The Picos de Europa is an amazing National Park with high mountains, beautiful villages and superb gastronomy. The nearest beauty spot from the house is the famous town of Arenas de Cabrales, 15km from El Cueto As to beaches the choice is enormous.These beaches are surrounded by green and mountains and are beauty spots themselves. Some have been used for filming. The nearest are Playa de San Antonlin, Playa de Barro, the more famous Playas de Torimbia (nudist beach) and Playa Gulpiyuri (inland beach). Also Playa Guadamia and next to it the famous Bufones de Pria (blowholes). Lots of local services and great places to eat. Great mobile signal both in the village and the area. Wifi is fiber and quite fast. Definitely need a car. Nearest airports are Santander and Oviedo.
