A cool, spacious, peaceful apartment situated on a hill just off the A7 coast road within a secure, gated complex with a large pool that is open during the summer months, usually 1st June - 30th September. There are house rules to minimise noise, quiet time 23:00 - 07:00, no parties, no walking in stiletto heels in the apartment. It only takes around 10 minutes to walk to the shopping centre at the bottom of the hill but it is a steep hill so the walk up takes longer and is more effort. Next to the shopping area is a bridge across the A7 road to the beach, restaurants, children's playpark and Castillo de la Duquesa. As the apartment is just off the A7 beach road, so close to the sea but quiet and fitted with window shutters - we get a great night’s sleep there. The master bedroom has a double bed and is ensuite and there is also a family bathroom in the apartment. There is a triple trundle bed in one bedroom and a trundle bed with a futon chair in the other. The living room has a comfy sofa bed. The kitchen has all the usual 'mod cons', fridge-freezer, hob, oven, microwave, kettle and toaster as well as all the usual cook and tableware, glasses and cutlery. There is an outside dining area with a lovely view of the countryside and nice sunset over the hills and a lovely pool open in he summer months, June to September.
We are married and have 2 young lads. We like food, travel and the beach.
There is a small shopping centre just 10 mins walk down the hill with 2 supermarkets, an Indian restaurant, a British-style fish and chip shop and a shop selling household items, but also beach toys. The beach is just 10 - 15 mins walk from the apartment where you will also find Duquesa Castle, beachside restaurants and a children’s playpark with basketball court. A further 10 mins walk along the beach path and you are in Puerto de la Duquesa, where lovely yachts are moored, surrounded by many cafés and restaurants. You can also book boat trips, jet skis and scuba diving here. A 5 minute drive from the apartment is Duquesa Golf and Country Club. Estepona is app. 15 minutes drive North with shopping, quaint flower-pot lined streets, sandy beaches and beachside restaurants. Just 15 mins drive South is Sotogrande, famous for Polo and equestrian activities. A further 15 minute drive takes you to Gibraltar, complete with monkeys, awesome caves and duty free shopping. For the adventurous, 30 minutes drive or so from the apartment to Algeciras and take the 90 minute ferry ride to Morocco. Winter travelers can ski 2 hours away in the Sierra Nevada ski resorts.
