Company information

Get to know our winegrowing family, the Klein family. 3 generations live and work together here on the Staffelter Hof. Jan, our boss, "master of the house" is married to Nadine and father of two girls, Elsa and Rosa. He has 2 brothers, Finn and Ernst, who are both closely connected to the house and its events. His parents, Gundi and Gerd, still live on the farm and fill it with their joy, hospitality and creativity. The STAFFELTER HOF is a place where tradition and future, life and laughter, winemaking and hospitality are combined with a love of wine. The whole thing takes place as close to nature as possible. Sustainability is not just a word for us. We try to give back to nature to the same extent that it gives to us. Our family has been running the vineyard for 7 generations. Our greatest passion is, of course, Riesling. Almost 75% of our 13-hectare vineyard is planted with Riesling, which thrives in the best slate slopes of the Moselle valley. However, you have also been able to find Piwis in our vineyards for several years now. Yes, working with and for nature is one of our goals. Sustainability, ecological cultivation of the vineyards and gentle, careful vinification result in racy, clear, fruity wines in our cellars to fall in love with. We are supported by an international team of talented and dedicated employees. People who think and act exactly the way we do. If you would like to see how tradition and future, wine and nature, people and hospitality come together, then come and visit us. We look forward to your visit! We look forward to showing you the wonderful Middle Moselle with its people and products here at a historical site, to letting you test and experience ...... Welcome-Welcome-Bienvenu Jan Matthias Klein and team

Property information

The Staffelter Hof, an organic winery, is the oldest winery and is one of the oldest existing companies in the world. It was first mentioned in 862 in a deed of gift from King Lothar II, who transferred the estate to Stavelot Abbey, the nucleus of the small town of the same name in present-day Belgium. After almost 1000 years in the possession of the abbey, the last man of the monastery estate, our ancestor Peter Schneiders, acquired the property from the French state in 1805. Get to know our winegrowing family. 3 generations live and work together on the Staffelter Hof. Tradition and future, life and laughter, winemaking and hospitality come together here. The whole thing takes place as close to nature as possible. Sustainability is not just a word for us. We produce 80% of our electricity needs with our photovoltaic system, store thousands of litres of rainwater for irrigation in our systems, buy large and refillable components to avoid waste and also grow regional and seasonal produce to supply the people here on the farm. This list goes on and on and will be expanded in the future. Tomorrow is important to us! A GOOD tomorrow is important to us! We have been an EcoVin-certified winery since 2014 and have been very successful in the field of natural wines worldwide for several years. Get in touch with us. We would be happy to share our knowledge and enthusiasm for nature and its products with you in a tasting session and sample our products together. In our guest house you will spend your holiday among modern, ambitious, friendly people in 7 fully equipped flats in the "heart of the Middle Moselle". These are of different sizes for 2-6 people, furnished with love, some with antique pieces, but with everything you need. We look forward to your visit.
