Situated in the town of Ohakune, on the edge of Tongariro National Park, LKNZ Lodge & Cafe is within 5 minutes' walk of restaurants, bars and shops. It features a sauna, hot tubs and an on-site cafe. The property offers a range of accommodation from budget dormitories to private rooms spread over 3 lodges and complimentary unlimited WiFi. Staff was great and super responsive outside of reception hours. Room was very clean.

I lost my headphone in the room and the receptionist was very helpful and told me I can get it back when I came back. thanks！
Erua
Located in Erua, within 21 km of Mount Ruapehu and 22 km of Taranaki Falls, The Crossing Lodge & Backpackers provides accommodation with a shared lounge and free WiFi throughout the property as well as free private parking for guests who drive. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. The accommodation features a shared kitchen and a 24-hour front desk for guests. I was pleasantly surprised with this lodge so I've taken time to wrte this review. I booked a dorm because it was a good price, but felt like i got so much more than just a bed, it was warm and cozy when it was zero degrees outside, it has a great kitchen with gas ovens water filters and an airfryer, a big dinning room, 2 big TV rooms (one is a hidden room, I loved it 😆) and and free pool table, great bathrooms, and showers worked perfectly, check-in is done easily with a touch screen tv, that was impressive, the doors are all security doors and i felt safe and secure which was a concern for me from some previous reviews i had read. Im already planing to come back with friends when there's more snow.
Raurimu

Great location for what we wanted to do. Good facilities, backpackers kitchen, bar, restaurant and lounge areas to relax in. Spa pool was nice.
The lodge is bright and colourful. We had our own bunk room which was close to the bathrooms. The kitchen was big with lots of utensils. Great location for anyone doing the Tongariro Crossing or exploring the National Park. Adjacent bar was fun to pop in to and staff at both the hostel and bar were very friendly. Can highly recommend catching sunrise, the stars and sunset.
This was excellent for the cost. It is a 'backpacker' type accomodation but was clean, cosy, everythinng worked well, staff were very helpful. If you are on a budget you will be very pleased, if you just like to save you will be very happy here. If you want luxury look elsewhere. But clean comfortable quiet handy, this is great. We are mid 60's and could easily pay more but like to save and we liked it and would stay here again.

Clean room with beds made. Towels provided. Friendly helpful staff and excellent security measures meant I felt safe. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast at the cafe was not cheap but worth every penny. Delicious and nicely laid out cafe.
Honestly, the best hostel I've ever stayed at! The owners were the most welcoming, loving and caring people. They made sure to talk to everyone, they even remembered the names of every single person who stayed there at the moment. The whole place was super clean and well kept. Kitchen had everything you need for cooking. The living room is amazing to hang out, watch tv, play games or get to know the other guests (and make some new friends!). Would highly recommend staying there. You would not be disappointed!
This is our second stay here. It was great coming back and knowing the facilities. The beds were very clean and comfortable and the room was clean. We used the communal kitchen and it had everything we needed. We enjoyed chatting to some nice Danish backpackers over dinner. We had brought supermarket provisions with us and we could easily pop to local shop for any small items. Stunning views of mountains. Cheapest option by far too!
The location was excellent, right next to the lovely Taranaki Falls walk. The facilities were adequate, similar to a youth hostel and clean.
Great location, friendly staff, excellent food, homey old fashioned feel. Excellent value for money, highly recommend to anyone on a budget.
Skotel is in the most beautiful location - the wilderness is on the doorstep.... just step outside and start hiking. The staff are wonderful, the rooms are great (either backpacker budget or hotel style) and the restaurant is 10/10. Room prices and restaurant prices are excellent value - nothing like city prices here! This was my third visit to Skotel - I look forward to it every time. It is also a great place to meet new people - guests mingle easily and share their day in the wonderful environment of the National Park.
