Located in Leek, within 18 km of Alton Towers and 20 km of Buxton Opera House, Leek Camping Barns provides accommodation with a terrace and free WiFi as well as free private parking for guests who drive. We loved the room so much! It was open, airy, spacious, comfortable, very accommodating, quiet and tranquil. I was massively surprised at how accurate the reviews were. It seemed like a gamble at first, taking my 3 nieces away with me and my husband, thinking they might complain- but they absolutely loved it! So did I. I loved the rustic theme, the fact there were so many beds to choose from- the location of the toilet was perfect for me. I liked that the toilet was so old school using chippings rather than water. There were wild chickens roaming which was super cute. We got to sit and have a campfire going (we brought our own fire wood) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We went to Alton Towers theme park over the course of two days and the location was brilliant for that. There is also a garage just down the road (kinda need a car) which was handy for snack/food and milk etc.
Hartington
Set in a grand 17th-century manor, this YHA is situated in Hartington, in the heart of the Peak District.
The majority of rooms at YHA Hartington Hall contain bunk beds. There is also a guest lounge, with Wi-Fi access and a games area.
Excellent location and friendly staff. The rooms were basic but clean and the kitchen was well equipped, enabling us to cook our own meals. Beautiful grounds, the village was a short walk and was lovely, with tea rooms and pubs alongside beautiful little shops. Excellent value for money.

Great location, lovely staff and plenty of area to walk the dog safely.
Great location for Alton Towers, cheap and fee breakfast is great. Rooms are clean, if a little cramped when the sofa bed is out.
A friendly welcoming place. A community based pub bringing people together. Warm room. Close to my training venue. Car parking onsite if your lucky I was. Fairly priced food. Chicken tikka curry was lovely. All in a very cheap place to stay if you have a tight budget. Kettle provided if you ask for it with tea and coffee provided. Free tea and coffee provided all day in lounge from water boiler.
Lovely and cosy cottage. Hot tub was lovely. Shame outside lights didn’t work. Bit over the top with rules etc but probably had bad experiences in the past. Thought the stripping the beds was a bit youth hostel also. But apart from that. Superb.
The staff were friendly and I appreciate the ethos of youth hostels. The main part of the property seemed to be a bit better than the outhouse we stayed in.
This was a cheap and cheerful budget hotel. It's OK if you just need somewhere very basic to crash for the night. The breakfasts were quite large and people seemed to be happy just to be there. There was also a small shop on site.
The Fazeley Inn has had a lot of negative press and I really wasn't sure what to expect however, our room was clean and tidy, it was quiet, there's someone on site at all times, the staff were great and really friendly, breakfast was cheap and plentiful and tasted brilliant. The room was spacious and I would say that if you're looking for somewhere on a budget, this is the place! Stayed for bloodstock which is about a 30 minute taxi ride away and I'm looking forward to our stay next year already!
Great location for Alton Towers, Taxi 20m approx £20-£30 local taxis or Uber (July 2023 prices). Excellent value for money. Greene King so cheap but decent food. Staff were friendly and helpful.
