Braemar
Braemar Youth Hostel is housed in a former shooting lodge in extensive grounds in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. It offers a mix of traditional interiors and modern furnishings, offering an ideal base for outdoor activities and exploring Royal Deeside, the Cairngorms, Glenshee and The Lecht. Braemar is tiny and the hostel is just a short walk down the road from the centre, where the 201 bus stops. Facilities are excellent : large kitchen with all facilities and storage space, a breakfast room, a dining/meeting room and a large sitting room with tv and sofas. My dormitory was spacious with very comfortable bunk beds and lockers. (You need your own lock). There are large washing machines and dryers in the drying room(where you can hang wet outdoor clothing and put boots etc,) (Full large load with powder and drier for £6). You can arrange to have hostel breakfast forc an additional fee. WiFi is excellent when working but has minutes when it cuts out, but that goes with the location and probably affects the whole village,
Loch Morlich
This 72-bed youth hostel provides great facilities including a good range of dorms and private rooms, a well-equipped self-catering kitchen, bike storage, a drying room and WiFI. Cooked breakfasts, packed lunches and full evening meals are also available. Cairngorm Lodge Youth Hostel is popular with outdoor enthusiasts. The nature surrounding Cairngorm Lodge is gorgeous and there's many different trails close by for beginners and veterans alike. The Hostel even has it's own restaurant which is good value for money. The staff were always really friendly and helpful and were able to help with any that may arise. But by far my favourite thing about the hostel was the "quiet room" with it's comfortable sofas and chairs. There's even newly renovated bathrooms/bath pods which are really slick looking. I can warmly recommend this Hostel to anyone staying in the Highlands. And I can also recommend Glenmore as it is breathtaking.
Aviemore
The youth hostel provides a good range of facilities including dorms and private rooms, a well-equipped self-catering kitchen, a spacious dining area, a large drying room and ample parking for cars and buses. There is also a large open-plan lounge which provides stunning views of the Cairngorm Mountains and surrounding woodland. Really great atmosphere for both families, couples and solo travellers. The kitchen was EXTREMELY well equipped, people cooked 3 course dinners in there - loved it! The staff was wonderful. Located right next to a gorgeous nature reserve.
Boat of Garten
Situated in Boat of Garten, 45 km from Inverness Castle, Fraoch Lodge features accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a shared lounge. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a children's playground. Free WiFi and a shared kitchen are available.

Kincraig
In the western region of the Cairngorms National Park, Insh Hall provides simple bed and breakfast accommodation at the Loch Insh Outdoor Centre. The centre offers a wide range of sports, a restaurant and bar and free parking and WiFi. What a place, location, value for money and very nice hosts. We got a chance to spend some time with the owner and he was very pleasant.
Tomintoul
Situated in Tomintoul, 43 km from Balmoral Castle, The Smugglers Hostel features accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a shared lounge. The property is set 16 km from Corgarff Castle, 23 km from Abernethy Golf Club and 23 km from Grantown Museum. The accommodation offers a shared kitchen and free WiFi. A fantastic and well equipped hostel which had plenty of space for our large family holiday (8 adults/8 children). The hostel was cleaned to a really high standard and was lovely and warm within a few minutes of turning up the radiators. While we didn't meet our host due to it being a community run hostel, all the information about our check in was provided well in advance to ensure a seamless arrival and check out. We will definitely consider booking again when we are next exploring the Highlands!

Great location. Pod was super comfortable and warm. On site bar was perfect - nice food and pints, and was super convenient. Would definitely recommend!
Everything about the house was brilliant. It was very clean and comfortable, the beds were the best. My kids loved the bunk bed they both fought for 3 nights over it. It was in a great location central to everything we booked to do over the weekend. Nice quiet area is always key.
As always - clean, warm, quiet, spacious room, safe for a solo female traveler, great location and lots of space for parking. also so glad i could book room at the last minute. very clear instructions about the stay and excellent communication, staff go over and above to ensure you get in in time. This is my 4th or 5th stay, will definitely stay again!
I liked the atmosphere in the hostel, how I was welcomed by the staff. I appreciated that I shared my room only with girls while I had chosen 'mixed dormitory', I felt an effort had been made to put women in the same room. I found the kitchen clean and well organized and that it was easy to get to different places from the hostel.
Great location , lots to do with the kids , lots of grounds space , swimming pool , friendly staff at pool and restaurant and bar , cheap arcade games , safe for the kids in hotel , around the site , nice food for breakfast. Comfortable beds and easy parking on site, comfortable bar area , clean , pool was clean as well.
Very stylish and exactly as described. Great location as well and plenty of parking on site. Not staffed however there were plenty of safety features that allowed us to feel safe. Great facilities too with a smart tv, fridge and kettle and lovely shower.
Friendly owner who let us check in early and lock our motorbikes safely round the back in the beer garden. Close to good restaurants . . he even said if we wanted a take away we could eat it in the back room. Some reviews seem to be from people who book budget and expect luxury. This is exactly as described, what we expected, and was great for a cheap stop on a motorbike tour.
This felt like a proper hostel with its large kitchen and communal are, friendly staff who were always keen to help out or have a chat, and comfy bunk beds.
Great check in time, staff were friendly. Big kitchen and dining area plus a lounge. I had the room to myself. Beds super comfy, rooms gave school camp vibes. Won't be able to sit up in the bottom bunks. I had no issues charging my phone. I would say about 10 minute walk into town. Great bathrooms that were clean. Note although it is called a youth hostel, people of all ages stay here.
Aviemore Youth Hostel is well run, the staff are helpful and friendly and it provides warm, safe and comfortable accommodation at a very reasonable price. I was on a cycle tour and the accommodation was perfect for that.
