Safely able to stroll the beach at 5:30am and walk the Whale's Tail at low tide. At daybreak, thoroughly appreciated the immensity of the expanded beach and sandbar. Had the park, with the company of birds, the waves, and crabs basically all to myself, except for another person, way at a distance. Many tall trees around the hostel, with howling monkeys as alarm clocks. Saw sloth for two days. Playa Uvita bus stop from San Jose, Dominical or Quepos (not Tracopa terminal or town center) is 10 minutes walk, turning from main road and walking all the way to Playa la Colonia (aka Chaman) park entrance.

I love this place and highly recommend it. Everything was so clean and exactly as the pictures. It is beautiful, comfortable, and food was amazing. Also, the staff is so nice and welcoming. This is a great option if you want to disconnect and being in middle of the nature. Very close to the beach and 20 mins to drive to the town.

It’s gorgeous, beautifully built, very well designed to keep each space separate and quiet, with nature all around. Mike knows everyone and everything about the area- I’d highly recommend booking with him whatever activities you do since he hears from all his guests how each tour goes and knows who to recommend. We spent 4 weeks in Costa Rica, and this was our favorite spot- incredible wildlife and such a wonderful place to stay. We didn’t have a car but it wasn’t a problem since Mike drove us to the tours he booked for us. Highly recommend!
