convenient location. very clean room, bathroom, tv room. i was the only female there, the kitchen was a mess, sink full of dishes. i brought prepare food, microwave heated on towel, and boiled water in electric kettle. brought compostable cups and utensils- being immunosuppressed, I wouldn’t use any dishes unless I washed them 1st. I’m sure it’s the group that was staying there. i haven’t encountered this at other hostels

Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.

The staff here are wonderful. Everyone was very kind and helpful. Each breakfast was hot, complete and filling. The property seems a little dated, but the price was right. My room was sufficient for one, but it was really small. Had my husband been here, there was not enough room. But I had a nice mountain view from my window. The room was clean, quiet, and I felt safe. I enjoyed the hot tub, and it felt private in the afternoon. It's a good location, and the town has a wonderful free shuttle service. Yes, I would stay here again.

Basic accom but super easy access to Mammoth Mountain (and the rest of the town) which was the primary reason for the stay. Facilitated a later check in and easy check out. Access to the hostel kitchen area + hot tub for post mountain recovery is an added bonus. Was perfect for a couple's late spring riding trip.

Generally good for the price. Free Breakfast was acceptable, free cookies and hot drinks in the lobby was cool. For the price of this place it has good amenities - a hot tub, decent sized rooms. The location was good, with quick access to skiing and in walking distance of some restaurants and bars. The sound proofing to the road was good, I could barely hear any cars drive past.

It did not feel like a hostel, more like someone’s home. Location was perfect walking distance from the village. Plenty of free parking and quiet.

I love the atmosphere at Moderne Hostel. It’s got a great location! My only complaint is that you took the stove out. On my last visit there was a stove. When I arrive on this visit I was surprised and dismayed to find it had been taken out. Luckily, the other travelers were super friendly and shared their cook stoves, and instapots.

Great location ten mins walk from the village gondola to the canyon lodge. Close to the bus stops to go everywhere else. Lovely friendly staff - nice that they had breakfast included and mountain snacks.
