Under new management from mid 2022 and just 80 metres from Paihia Beach, Peppertree Lodge & Backpackers features 3 tennis courts and a barbecue area with outdoor seating.

Peppertree Lodge & Backpackers Paihia is less than 5 minutes’ walk from the Maritime Centre and Paihia Scenic Reserve. The Waitangi Treaty Grounds are a 5-minute drive. Kerikeri Airport is a 25-minute drive away.

Great location just 10 minutes from the bus stop and town. The room was very clean and comfortable. The cooking facilities had all you needed. Other guests were friendly and fun without being too loud. Loved our stay.

Centabay Lodge offers budget accommodation right in the centre of Paihia. Choose from a bed in one of the spacious dormitory rooms or stay in a private room to suit your budget.

Free WiFi, a fully equipped shared kitchen, communal lounge and garden area with BBQ facilities and a hot tub are all included. Free limited on-site parking is also available. Guests can play table tennis and darts in the hostel games room (during low season) or ask the tour desk about nearby activities such as kayaking, cycling and hiking.

Centabay was my favourite hostel that I stayed at in New Zealand!!! I loved the vibrant atmosphere, the lovely backpacker-staff and the wonderful manager who was always a joy to chat with. The prices are incredibly reasonable for a place in the middle of Paihia, and you can tell the manager isn't in it for the profit - she genuinely wants to help travellers have the best experience possible. The hot tub worked well and was always great to use. The hammocks and tropical garden are another bonus. I could go on and on!

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.

So clean Great facilities The view from the kitchen - absolutely stunning The staff were top notch (especially Scott) !! He always went the extra mile, nothing was ever too much hassle, and I loved how he helped organise socials with other travellers in the hostel. This is genuinely so appreciated when you’re travelling solo, it made meeting people so much easier and gave the hostel a really nice welcoming and community vibe - couldn’t recommend here any higher <3

This is the best hostel I've stayed at in New Zealand so far!!! The location was amazing. It is right in the centre of Paihia, surrounded by restaurants and shops. The lounge was my favourite. It overlooked the sea and was well decorated. It is a cosy place to unwind at the end of the day. The whole place was also exceptionally clean. Plus, when I visited, the all-female staff were super lovely and made a female solo traveller like me feel very comfortable indeed.

Very kind owner. Genuine kind and friendly. He takes pride of the place and their customers. Location, it is right in the middle of the town, just 2min walking from the bus stop/station and the wharf to get the ferry to Russell. Also, so convenient located near shops, restaurants, cafes, etc. Price, it was cheap. It is safe for solo travellers A bath tub outdoors and a friendly environment, couches and TV next to the kitchen, where you can interact with other travellers
