(1. The hostel owner arranged for his brothers to drive me to and from the airport, even though my flights were always 3 AM in the morning. In Mongolia, the airport is located almost 2 hours away by car from the city center, with bad traffic and no public transportation connection. The hostel gave a great price, 80,000 tugriks each way ($23.19 for Americans, or 31,076 won for the many Koreans here), even though they had to travel 4-5 hours total in the middle of the night each time. Sorry and thank you so much. :( 2. They watched over my luggage whenever I left for multi-day tours/treks to the countryside 3. They came with me and helped me get my tourist SIM card (Unitel is a few minutes walk from the hostel, but they don't speak English) 4. Wake up and enter the white grassland snow country. Ulaanbaatar is a vibrant young city, but it is also congested, and the streets are full of Toyotas honking their horns. The cantaloupe that I carried all the way from Chinese to Ulaanbaatar was ripe and shared with the landlord Bolod and his family, as well as the Russian brother. Feel a melon that makes sense. Bolod and his wife were very welcoming, friendly and kind. They all speak English, Russian and other languages. Bolod also had his son drive and took me to see the statue of Genghis Khan and visit the local herders. The steppe world is completely covered with heavy snow, and yurts can be inhabited. The newborn lamb is dressed up, the dog is more like a steppe mastiff with its long hair, the mare's milk wine is super strong, and I am wearing a cashmere Mongolian robe. It's so warm. I wanted to go to Mongolian dinner in the evening, but my Russian roommate treated me to frozen lard and potato offal, saying it was a traditional Russian delicacy. I had a very good memory here.
