Malinda is hilarious and great!
New hostel in Hiri. Slap bang in the middle of Hiri and Dickwella beach, perfect for surface and chilling. Offered scooter rental if needed. Hooked us up with Chandy’s beach bar, with free loungers and the staff there are great. A quick 8 minute walk (if that) to either beach. Barely used tuk tuks whikst we were there! All the friends of Malinda are great, and they share everything. Taught us properly how to play Karam, made sure we always got involved.
Nice comfy big beds, and the personal fans negate the lack of AC. Super chilled with check in and check out and extending. You can come and go as you please. Outdoor showers are high pressure and great after the beach. Fridge is always stocked with cold beer (get added to your bill at the end so keep count, but super cheap and convenient).
Great chats with Malinda about different cultures, and living in Sri Lanka. Had a really fun time.
We were skeptical about going DOTs, but was worth it in the end, attracted a really nice crowd.
Good for socialising but also good if you are not into that too, you can chill on your own terms.
Kitchen is functional although we barely used it, laundry is easy to use too.
A woman traveller with my boyfriend, I felt very comfortable with it being a mixed dorm. So don’t get out off at all!
We needed up extremes by 2 days because we were so comfortable.

Hidden away from main areas but close enough to walk, jungle vibes. The owner gave us freshly picked mangoes to try from their garden. Showering with views of stars or jungle were just perfect

This is the best hostel I’ve stayed in. So comfortable, quiet, very clean and sweet. Only one room with 8 beds with makes it calm even if it’s fully booked. I enjoyed it so much. The cafe in the garden is great, with nice coffee and cake. There’s also a nice clothes shop🥰

The room was nice and clean and the stuff was very friendly. They were doing some renovations so I was the only guest there, so the owner was kind enough to change my reservation to 1 instead of 2.

The place was amazing, Great Vibe, Ambience. Superb staff. Especially Hasi and TJ. Made me feel like home. Beds were super comfy, Social events and the gatherings area was really chill. Definitely lives up to the Name!! Private room was super spacious, unlike other places I’ve stayed in Hiriketiya. Worth every single buck spent
Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.
Great location on a quiet beach. Air con was good. Bed was super comfy and everything was very clean. It's a short and nice walk to restaurants and turtles. Also we could park our tuk tuk safely.
Great location. Near some restaurants and hostels, about a 5-10 minute walk to the main beach. Nice if you’re wanting to stay somewhere chill but still be near the action. The breakfast was unreal, try the whole menu if you can! Staff were so kind. Free water so you can fill up, much more sustainable than buying loads of plastic bottles. Room was beautifully made up.
Great location, close to good cafes and restaurant. Beach is also walking distance. Very good breakfast and the woman who runs the place is very friendly. Safe area, can definitely recommend for female solo traveler.
Clean, friendly people, good to sleep(air-conditioning in the dorms) nature all around. Kitchen to cook. Cheap! Hands down the best value for money of any hostel I stayed at in 6 months in Sri Lanka. I stayed at Abinu's years ago, came back now and will be back next trip. Nearby the beach and shops, very recommended
Probably the Best hostel in town. Everything is working perfectly, clean, comfortable and the staff is here to help if any questions. Also the price is more than decent for the location and all the rest. I definitely recommand the place it has made my stay in hiriketyia.
I had a lovely time at kings happy house! The owner was so incredibly kind and helpful. As the hostel is quite new, he was always very open and grateful for feedback and suggestions for improvement. He alway made sure I’m safe and well taken care of wich was quite nice and soothing as a solo traveller. He also helped me with organising any trips I wanted to go on.
A person who runs his hostel with heart and soul and wants to make sure you have a good time there.
Great location to the beach and I felt very safe here. The staff were great especially Isuru who was helpful, kind and very accommodating - he is very good at his job.
Even though the room was basic, the owner made us feel like part of the family. He was happy to share stories and hear ours, and we only spent 2 nights here but it felt like we have known the owner for much longer! Only a 10-min walk to the beach, & It's a cheap place for hiriketiya beach and the owner understands very well that some people travel on a budget and is happy to help out finding good options in this. Thanks!
Cheap and location is alright, 10 min walk will bring you to closest beach, a lot of places to get things needed around the hostel.
Home owner was nice and helped with every request.
WiFi was mostly good
