At the hostel, the rooms come with a desk. With a shared bathroom fitted with a shower and a hairdryer, rooms at Cocomock House also feature free WiFi, while selected rooms also feature a mountain view.

Great stay at Cocomock House; very homely, clean, spacious, friendliest owners, quiet and stunning location in the mountains. The best part of my stay: the food!! Probably the best I've had in Japan. Big portions to fuel up before or after your trek in Kamikochi. The owners help you with all your questions.

Featuring a shared lounge, Hostel Miyagawa by Murasaki Ryokan is located in the centre of Takayama, less than 1 km from Takayama Station. The property is around 49 km from Gero Station, 700 metres from Takayama Festival Float Exhibition Hall and 46 km from Kamikochi. The property is non-smoking and is set 3.1 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village.

Awesome location right next to the Miyagawa river across from the morning market, nice traditional style Japanese room with tatami mats and futon mattresses, had a warm and welcoming lounge area with basic cooking amenities (fridge, hot water, dishes/utensils, etc) and even free teas with snacks. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, definitely a great place to stay if you're not that proficient in Japanese (some staff spoke fluent English). They offered free baggage storage even after checkout on the same day. I should also note that the place has just opened up this march of 2024 so all the utilities (showers, toilets, heaters, etc) are brand new and work excellently. The (very spacious) room came equipped with plenty of natural light from windows, adjustable warm/cold light, a gas heater, and the aforementioned futon/electric blankets. Easily the best hostel in Takayama and possibly all of Gifu prefecture, can't recommend it highly enough.

Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.

Very friendly, helpful and kind staff - they contacted the police for me when I left my wallet full of money at a market stall (and it wasn’t there when I returned to the stall). My wallet was never found in the end but I’m grateful for their efforts. The hostel is a great location - ~10 min walk from train/bus station and main hub of Takayama. It is also kept very clean! Personal lockers in dorm rooms were also a bonus!

Great location just near the train station and the bus terminal to various locations like Kamikochi, Shin Hotaka Ropeway just to name a few. Super clean rooms with charging points on the Sofa, nice balcony facing the train track (but we couldn't hear a thing with the glass doors closed. We got the 2 x queen size + 2 bunk beds combo for 3 persons. It will be great for families.

This was such a fabulous hostel. Great location, 5 mins from the station. Such a nice chill area and kitchen inside. I had the most fabulous sleep in their super-comfy bed! Very well priced single room - such a luxury! First mattress in Japan that was soft enough for me as a side sleeper. Helpful, friendly staff. Lots of info provided. Can't fault it

The staff is so nice and the location on the hill is very cute. There is a direct bus going into the city just 2 minutes downhill. The bed was really cozy with a big blanket and curtains. The hostel is in an older style but all so clean and I instantly felt safe and cozy there.

One of the best hostels I've stayed at in Japan. Lovely traditional style building/rooms and it was clean with good facilities. Great location and staff gave good tips for food etc. Super sociable hostel - group of us chilled out drinking the (free) hostel sake in the tatami room!

Great location close to JR Takayama station and walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants. K’s House has the friendliest staff who have a lot of knowledge of the area and are always happy to help. The communal areas (kitchen, dining and living areas) are great - a lot of newer hostels we went to didn’t have this! The rooms and bathrooms are basic but fine for the price (we had a private bunk bed room). Overall we liked staying here!
