The town is really beautiful with lots of individual shops,, lots of restaurants. Very pretty. The petit dejeuner was wonderful.

Our hostess shared the story of their family champagnes which was such a treat.

We were happy we stayed at Aÿ as we spent a lot time in Épernay for the champagne tastings and probably would not have visited Aÿ had we stayed in Épernay.

Bouillon is 39 km from the homestay. Nice clean rooms and although it's "only" a B&B, the owners cooked us a nice complete meal on our arriving evening so we didn't have to look for a restaurant. Really quiet village but near Charleville-Mézieres and Sedan, two nice little cities with interesting cultural heritage - mainly war history.

There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. We had a really relaxing stay. The room was spotlessly clean and the hosts were welcoming and friendly. There was everything we could possibly have needed in our rooms. They had thought of everything! The evening meal was delicious, and we loved the fact that we ate together with the other guests. We had a comfortable night, and the breakfast in the morning with baguette, croissants, homemade jams and even homemade yogurt was superb.

Guests can dine in an outdoor dining area at the homestay. the French couple/owners were so welcoming and hospitable. The home is out a bit in the country (which we always strive for) and doesn’t have a sign so you would never see it driving around as we usually do. it’s actually a private home with 3 rooms upstairs and a shared bathroom -good to know/expect. Jack, the husband is fluent in English and took the time to share his outside yard while his lovely wife tried to find reservations for us for dinner. such a sweet couple. and a nice way to spend time in a real French countryside home and not some chain hotel. this is a place/fun time our husbands are still talking about. (we are late-mid 70’s and travel like Gypsies so there’s that) Jack also suggested a “typical French town” to visit and we are so happy for that advice.
