We were initially placed in a three family room upstairs and were given the option to switch to a river view room the next day. However we preferred the bigger room with more privacy and the two hammocks. Very peaceful vibes and the host family was kind and knowledgeable. Not to mention great food I recommend the curry, sandwiches, and lemonade made in-house. Great bang for your buck.
Travellers on a budget looking to experience a place like a local will enjoy homestays. This simple accommodation is in a private home, where the host also lives. All facilities are shared and in most cases breakfast is included.
I stayed in a bungalow, right on the river. I enjoyed the view, the sound of the river, and watching kids playing in the water. A/C was a must, since Laos was going through a historic heatwave. The bed was comfy. Bike rental for 1 USD per day is nice. Noy was a great hostess, very friendly and an excellent cook!
Location right on the river was fabulous. A great sized verandah with furniture was ideal to watch the world go by, locals fishing and children playing in the river. Very close to places to eat
The aircon worked well. Breakfast was simple but we enjoyed it at their restaurant 50m away.
