The annex was so comfortable to stay in. Very well presented, the owners are a lovely couple who are friendly yet respectful of your privacy. A good location from which to do a walk into Goyt valley or King Solomon's temple; or a short drive to other points such as Mams tor.

Banyan tree, a property with a bar, is set in Buxton, 500 metres from Buxton Opera House, 25 km from Chatsworth House, as well as 29 km from Capesthorne Hall. There was an initial problem with my booking (which was absolutely nothing to do with the hosts!), which turned into a masterclass in customer service. I was given a quiet room to sit in while my room was cleaned, connected to the WiFi so I was able to work then shown into what turned out to be a really lovely room. Everything was extremely clean, the room was a pleasant temperature and the bathroom was lovely. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided, and there's even a fridge in the room. The water to the bath and shower were piping hot and decent pressure. The room is in an excellent location - it's above a very nicely decorated Thai Restaurant, and very central. There's a Sainsbury's local right over the road, and it's a ten minute walk from the train station. There was very little noise, which was impressive given that when I arrived a birthday party was starting in the restaurant. Overall - no, it's not the Ritz, but it's very clean, in a brilliant location and honestly more than worth the price I paid.
