A huge rain+wind storm passed through in the night, and the tiny cabin was cozy and comfie.

It is a wonderful lone big house, looks new, on a hill overlooking a lake, beautiful scenery. The owners are very nice. It is a very spacious and quiet. Great fire place with plenty good fire wood. It was a great pleasure staying there. We had all the equipment and appliances that we needed, including washing machine and a dryer. Tips for guests: make sure you arrive there in daylight to make it easier to notice signs leading to the place. Read the owner's instructions and guidance well before arrival, including the WiFi code in case you need to call the owner with WiFi before you enter the house. Please be aware that there are no shops in the vicinity. It is highly recommended to buy your groceries in advance. The only restaurant which is within a reasonably short drive - closes early. The nearest food shop is a 15-20 minutes drive away, doesn't have much stuff and closes early. There is a pub near this shop which closes at about 10pm, to be verified. The kitchen closes much earlier. It is better to learn the area well in advance.

The place has everything you need and is really comfy (although it did get really cold at night!). The hosts were super kind and waited pretty late for me to arrive.

The location was good. It was just a short drive to Kaka Point and the restaurant. The beach was in walking distance. Nugget Point Light was a short drive. Owaka was about 15 minutes away. Tips: If you are arriving late, buy your groceries in Owaka. The grocery store in Kaka Point is not open in the evening and it doesn't open until 12:00 noon the next day. Also, the restaurant in Kaka Point is closed on Sunday and Monday. It does not serve breakfast since it doesn't open till 12:00 noon. There are cafes and restaurants in Owaka that serve breakfast and are open Sunday and Monday.

Catlins Lake Sanctuary is a holiday home with a garden, situated near Owaka. The secluded property overlooks an estuary and farmland. It provides free private parking. Owaka is 3.4 km from Catlins Lake Sanctuary where guests will find restaurants and shops. The house is very cosy and confortable. Perfectly located on the top of a hill overseeing the estuary waters. It's spacious and well equipped so families will enjoy it very much. It's also a short car ride from surat bay beach or nugget point so ideal if you want to explore the area. The staff was also very friendly and proactive on making sure we had a good time. We definitely recommend this house for families or couples wanting a nice retreat in Catlins.
