We absolutely loved our stay at The Byre - the accommodation was excellent, the hosts were obliging and the scenery was stunning. The views from the windows were wonderful and it was lovely being away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The area is so interesting. There are traces of its industrial past all around and it is a short drive to the Killhope lead mine or to Allenheads with its cafe, museums etc. Beckelshele is off the A689, at Lanehead, surrounded by open country with curlew, snipe etc. The owners live next door and couldn't be more helpful and friendly. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we have booked again in June - for a fortnight this time.

The cottage is located within walking distance of St John's Chapel, where we did our morning walk everyday with the dog along a well-made path. The rooms are spacious and there are pleasant views from the rear windows of fields and hills. We appreciated the efficient heating when the temperature dropped. All facilities worked well, (although we didn't use the oven), WiFi is good but be advised there is no TV. This was not a problem as we were out everyday visiting our friends in Middleton-in-Teesdale and enjoying the views on our drives to Blanchland and Corbridge.

Weardale cottage is beautiful. Martin and Fiona have made sure that there is everything you need for your stay. The cottage was spotlessly clean and lovely and warm when we arrived. The surrounding countryside is stunning. We enjoyed some lovely walks during our stay.
