We loved the style and the lay out of the house and the garden around it was amazing. The view from the first floor is something we will always remember. A huge tree with lots of birds and a little further away the ever flowing river. The place feels more like a tropical home than a vacation rental. The kitchen is well equipped and the utensils are of good quality. The beds and linens are very comfortable. We appreciated the hosts endeavors at being eco friendly and the lack of airconditioning wasn’t a problem. We loved our stay at Alma del rio!

Everything. Melanie, Larry and the team treated us more like family than guests. They organised all our trips and activities, at no extra cost, even after we changed our plans. The location was perfect, like an oasis in the jungle, the pool was fantastic and the room was very tastefully decorated with everything we could need.

I liked everything during my stay. Nicole is a very nice and open person. she showed us and explained everything. We had everything we needed during our stay. The water in the shower was warm, the towels were clean. There were cosmetics available. The washer and dryer worked very well... We found a great bakery near our house. It smelled so so good that we went inside to ask if we could buy something. Then we went there every day 😁. Below is a photo of the bakery. If you're staying at Nicole's, be sure to go to this bakery. Best regards - a family with two children.

Loved everything about our stay here, it was pure perfection. If it’s available, do not pass up the opportunity to experience it.
The lodge is beautiful and so well designed and presented, with lovely homely touches, clean spacious shower room, comfortable bed and bedroom with cracking aircon, great outdoor seating area, in all just cannot fault it.
Communication with Hadas/Dusty was spot on, Hadas also arranged for us to do bird watching and cooking onsite with Flora, both of which were great experiences.
On arrival we were met by Willy and Stinky who are both adorable and so friendly, they spent a lot of time with us when we were there! Willy was also a great swimming buddy in the river.
Facilities in the lodge were second to none and also catered for our unstated needs! Fully stocked kitchen and a bonus of running bottled water.
Having the river there to both cool down in and sunbathe by was a bonus and well used with the humidity at the time we stayed.
The location was perfect for us, far enough from town to be remote and only a few mins drive into civilisation.
Albert, the main man on site in the day, was lovely and friendly and we had some good conversation with him.
The security here is also good, with an electric entrance gate and non intrusive cameras, but Willy and Stinky were the best security, making sure you knew about any movement even remotely near the property! They also slept outside our room on a night, ready and waiting for a breakfast treat in the morning! So cute. If you’re not a dog lover though, they won’t bother you, so please don’t be put off by them being there.

Hummingbird was exactly as advertised. Peter and Jenny were super helpful . They arranged a tour to Caracol(loved Leo our guide) and and also helped us get to our next destination. Highly recommend. Oh, also easy walk to town from there.

Really liked this hostel- it felt very clean with good beds, amazing breakfast and the location is great, close to ruins and a great resort where you can use their pool.
15mins walk into the main street of San Ignacio. Fridge , AC and hot water in the shower. Acres of space for parking. Simple room but very clean and excellent for us - we stayed an extra night. There is an (expensive) supermarket on the corner opposite to buy things for breakfast - as long as you don't want alcohol of any sort! This place suited us down to the ground. No qualms whatsoever about staying here again should we return.
Friendly staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome, very clean and spacious apartment with little touches such as fresh flowers, beautiful gardens with wildlife, nice pool to relax in at the end of the day. We ate at the on site restaurant and enjoyed a good local meal.
