Vivir Bonito Hostal

Housed in a building dating from 2021, this guest house is less than 1 km from Museo Casa Natal de Morelos and 2.5 km from Guadalupe Sanctuary. The accommodation features a 24-hour front desk, a shared kitchen and luggage storage for guests. The super well appointed kitchen! The huge window in my large, south facing room, because I really need light. They also have one room without a window, if you like a nice dark room to sleep in. The guys themselves, who run the business. I learned that they offer these delightful packages, where for a surprisingly affordable rate you come for somewhere between 1 and 4 weeks at a time and you get your room, Spanish language class and three home cooked meals daily, cultural and historic outings in the afternoons and explorations together beyond the city of Morelia on the weekends, if you choose to take part. Or you can take any of that time to explore on your own, if you prefer. The guys are fun, really down to earth and sooo helpful. They speak English, French and Spanish. There is a huge roof deck with great views across the city in all directions. I'll definitely come back to this place the next time I'm in Morelia.

Casa Ana Celia

Morelia Historic Centre, Morelia

Casa Ana Celia provides accommodation located 500 metres from the centre of Morelia and offers a terrace and a shared lounge. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay. The property features a public bath, free WiFi throughout the property and full-day security. I am an 80 year old woman traveling alone. I picked this property because of the reviews knowing little about Morelia. I loved my stay here… the staff was welcoming and always helpful. Answers to my questions were a “WhatsApp” away. My room was spotless, large, comfortable with a walk in shower. Not noisy. The hotel shares a space with an optical shop and a dentist and is located in a careless alley which is a market during the day. In front of the hotel are stalls selling traditional pottery from areas around Patzcuaro. There is a large park and a beautiful church just down the alley. It is walkable to everywhere in the central city. There is public transportation if you can figure out where the vans go. I would stay here again on my next trip to Morelia. Communication was excellent.

Posada de San Agustin

Pátzcuaro

Posada San Agustín is located aside from the craft and food market, down in the city centre of Patzcuaro. The lake is 7 minutes’ drive from the place and the Emperador Calzonzin Theatre is 50 metres away. It is a beautiful old hotel, my room was adorable with rattan wardrobe, tables, chair, mirror, and tall french doors and windows overlooking some hills in the background, the metal roofs of the expansive mercado below which is literally attached to the building, and a tangle of electrical wires, such is Mexico! The bed was heaven!!!!!, super comfortable with delicious crispy clean sheets and fresh cozy soft blankets. The bathroom was nice, shower worked well, hot water. Very clean and lovely. The streets outside and mercado are bustling and music loud sometimes, but was not too loud in my room. A nice center square out front, lots of old churches and buildings to walk around, lots of eateries nearby, plus the mercado where you can get anything you want. A constant parade of combis going by, if you can figure out how to use them, if not, plenty of taxis. There is a laundry service in the hotel. The room felt cold at first, i thought I would freeze at night, but it was fine, proved to be not a problem.
