The Westbourne, hotel in Troutbeck

The Westbourne is a beautiful guest house set in the peaceful area below Biskey Howe in the Lake District. Bedrooms feature walk-in-shower rooms, luxurious toiletries and large fluffy towels.

The staff there are very friendly. They always greeted us with bright smiles, that make us feel right at home. We forgot to close our car window, and one of the gentlemen kindly reminded us, thanks again. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. And service was great. It’s a great location, just about 10-minute walk to Bowness Pier and the town center. All in all, it was a delightful and very cost-effective stay in Bowness. We will definitely choose to stay here again if we return to Bowness. There’s an Asian food restaurant nearby run by a Vietnamese family. The food there is absolutely fabulous, and the staff are very friendly. It’s definitely worth a try.

Clean (other than hair in shower), comfortable (other than cold), modern, quiet Hosts sense of humour? He advertises that this is 3,014 square feet. A joke? That's ridiculous. For the record it's a standard size chalet, but such gross exaggeration prepares you for everything you find later. Take it with a pinch of salt, don't expect too much and be prepared for things not to be as great as you hope - then you might get a pleasant surprise. I wasn't.

Jackie was a wonderful host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at her guesthouse. The room was spacious and comfortable. Jackie prepared a delicious breakfast for us each day which consisted of fruit, yogurt and toast as well as a cooked breakfast. The dining room has beautiful views too.
