Each contemporary room includes a TV, a seating area and tea and coffee making facilities. In the larger rooms in the main buildings there is a work desk. The en-suite shower rooms have a hairdryer.

Each morning guests can choose from a buffet breakfast including fresh fruit salad, cereals, breads, homemade muesli, bacon, coffees and juices. Guests can relax in the shared lounge, with its ancient salt oven and well.

This is a challenge to answer. The Scotch Arms is a lovely 1600s building(s) that was incredibly well restored. (My partner is an architect, and he said the owners spared no expense in the restoration.) It was a delight to be in such a beautiful treasure of a B&B. The question is difficult to answer because complimenting the wonderful physical establishment is, Dianne, the warm, friendly and knowledgeable owner/host. She gives everyone a warm welcome. On this trip we are staying at 7 hotels/B&Bs, and the Scotch Arms stays in our minds as one of the best on this 20 day trip.

Deborah was a charming hostess. Excellent food and comfortable room. Entire farmhouse was full of character and immaculately clean. We enjoyed our short stay and would give it the highest recommendation. Being situated in a beautiful part of the UK is an added bonus.

Apartment was immaculate - the decor was lovely, the kitchen was well equipped, the lounge very cosy and the bathrooms looked brand new. Beds very comfy . Short walk to the high street/shops/pubs and restaurants. Very convenient for the M6 stopover we needed it for. Diane was a great host - she gave very clear instructions for arrival and made us feel very welcome. Thank you so much Diane and family!

Fantastic location, very quiet and peaceful. Large bedroom with a shower and bath en-suite. Largest en-suite we have ever seen. An excellent breakfast and Deborah was the perfect host. A lovely view from our window with a small river and woodland beyond. Deborah was kind and friendly and couldn't do enough to help us have a great stay. Very clean and tidy. Would recommend Lanercost Country Bed and Breakfast to anyone.

Lovely quiet location in the countryside with great hosts and the extended family of Horses, dogs, a cat and of course the chickens. Easy base to get to both the north pennines and the Lakes. Parking discs were great to have for the Cumbria area and Talkin Tarn. The house was very spacious, with large rooms all done to a high standard and of course the great views from the sitting room and front bedrooms day and night, with the most beautiful sunsets. Would definitely stay again.
