Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travelers who prefer laid-back accommodations with a personal touch. Usually family run, these hosts will provide local recommendations and even optional meals. Guest houses sometimes feature a cozy living room or a garden – and are still cheaper than most regular hotels.
The hosts, Nigel and Kate, casually generous with their hospitality at every turn. We were made to feel supberbly welcome and at ease in every corner of this tastefully eclectic paradise.
I had tended to be a bit snobby about English hosts in France, usually preferring an authentic French experience. However, both were fully integrated in the local culture and language, clearly appreciated by indigenous and Brits alike at an open air food festival in the village. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
Perfect location for seeing family living in Beaumont. It allowed us to visit Villereal, Monbazillac, Bergerac and Issegeac's Sunday market as well as walk into Beaumont. The host was very communicative and her extended family were on site to answer any questions and give us the keys on arrival. The kitchen was very spacious and well equipped, allowing us to host a lovely Sunday lunch for our family.
The hosts were great, very communicative and even reserved a parking place for us outside the property. The property is well equipped and has everything you need. The welcome pack, biscuits, coffee, milk etc were just perfect. Lovely shower!
The room was tastefully decorated, luxuriously finished and spotlessly clean. The warmth and hospitality offered by Mark and Peter was second to none. Mark was the perfect host attending to our every need and offering a wealth of advice and knowledge on points of interest locally, best places to visit for days out and where to eat and shop. The quality and variety of the meals produced by Peter was worthy of a Michelin star - extraordinarily good! We only stayed for 3 days but we must return. Faultless!!
Great two-night stay at Maison de Beaumont. From the moment we booked, the hosts, Peter and Mark, attended to our every request. Very good location to discover the Perigord Noir. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and finished to an exquisite level - you can easily see that the owners have a keen eye for detail. The breakfast is generous and authentic - home-made granola bowls and, pastries from the local boulangerie - and the sharing platters offered in the evenings are great too. Excellent, could not have asked for more really.
From the minute we arrived, Mark was the ultimate host. The room, and everywhere else, was spotless. The breakfast was full of home-made produce, the bathroom well stocked with toiletries etc. Both he and Peter have absolutely got everything right. Would heartily recommend, and we intend to go back! Just a few minutes walk from a very pretty Bastide town, yet so quiet all you can hear is birdsong.
