This was our favourite stay in Egypt! Amazing location on Elephantine island- small very regular boat service across every 5 mins - hotel has a lovely relaxing garden and great views from rooftop. Honesty bar where you can buy drinks and beer and take to rooftop. Room very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Staff very friendly and helpful and happy for us to relax in their garden till the time of the overnight train in the afternoon which was fantastic. Highly recommended and amazing value for money !

Mr Muhammad are the staff are excellent. They are very helpful and lovely people. We love the location by the nile, the view is just amazing, overlooking the cataracts, Kitchener islands, Aga Khan mausoleum, and the Nobles Tomb! We cannot ask for a better view to soothe our soul. The felucca ride at sunset was just dreamy, quiet and so beautiful. The abundance of bird watching available around are excellent, both at morning and evening, and sounds of chirping can be heard throughout the day. This place made Aswan special for us and we’d love to go back again for this amazing nile experience. The room is basic but comfortable. We had the one overlooking the front with the nile river view, so that was great! Breakfast was good with an amazing view from the terrace. We love the complimentary pick up on arrival from the ferry jetty, that takes us directly to in front of the house, instead of having to walk through the island with our luggage.

Everything! The place is very nice clean and cozy! And the owner is the kindest person you could ever meet. We shared a lot of time talking and he was explaining a lot about the area, and touristic points, he also helped me with indications in Arabic in a paper. He also invited me a very tasty fruit juice.

We stayed one night at Crystala guest house. The owners Ahmed and Yousra were very welcoming. Our room was very clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the proximity with the ferry and the nice restaurants around.
I highly recommend this place if you are staying in Elephantine island.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
A great, quiet guesthouse with a very kind, helpful host. Abu will go out of his way to make sure you have what you need and are comfortable. I would stay here again.
Property is in a quiet area of Aswan, away from the noisy city. Crossing the street it has an exclusive area to swim into the Nile river or do some kayaking, which are rented for a cheap price. They also offer water and soft drinks and a small breakfast included. You can easily spend many days relaxing in the hostel, without even leaving to do attractions.
Zolly was and excellent host, his hospitality was warm and welcoming and he couldn’t be more accommodating. The guest house it’s self is a nice spot over over views over the Nile and Aswan. Facilities are all up to scratch and the rooms well equipped. The guesthouse offers excellent value for money and you can put a price on the hospitality Zolly offers .
The host was amazingly friendly, even inviting us to his nieces engagement party while we were there and we got to experience some authentic Nubian food!
The location is great, much quieter than staying on the east bank but also just a short and very cheap ferry ride over to the hustle and bustle.
The room was nice and clean with a bathroom, ceiling fan, heaps of cupboard space, supplied towels and a really comfy bed.
Would definitely reccomend!
- great host Ahmed and his family made our stay wonderful; he waited for us at the train station and took us to his guest house; made sure we have everything we need and helped organize trips for us; also helped us with getting medical help and medications
- delicious breakfast that you can enjoy with the river view
- clean room with AC
- guest house location is calm and quiet
This is a lovely, quaint guest house on the quiet side of Elephantine. We loved how peaceful it was and away from the hustle and bustle of the town: Mohammed and Basser were very accommodating hosts throughout the stay. A highlight being we got to go on Mohammed’s boat for a sunset journey on the Nile. Highly recommend!
Great location next to the Nile and 5 minutes on foot from the ferry. Also very nice rooftop to chill by the river. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Ahmed is a great host, we were able to take our breakfast in a bag when we had to leave at 4am. He can also organize a trip to Abu Simbel at a reasonable price.
Very nice location with a wonderful panorama over the Nile river and the desert,
very quiet area, the city center is still easily reachable by foot or minibus (cheap fares)
Friendly staff
Possibility to rent a kayak directly from the hostel
This is a great location, easy to access from the elephantine ferry boat port for a cheap ride and short walk. nice and peaceful. great host who is very helpful and organised felucca rides, boat rides and trip to Abu Simbel for us. there is a wee restaurant next door with yummy food - it takes a while to cook but is a nice relaxing atmosphere. breakfast is decent enough and served on the rooftop. the host is Nubian and the house is in a Nubian village. I highly recommend BAYT ZAINA.
Great place to stay in Aswan, in the peaceful, quiet and charming island of Elephantine. Gasser is a great host, honest and kind, and makes your visit to the island unforgettable.
