It is located 2 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village and features luggage storage space. The ryokan has parking on-site, a hot spring bath and full-day security. The location is about a 20 min walk to the central area and about a 30 min walk to the Hida Folk Village so the location isn’t too bad if you’re planning to see both. The staff is beyond excellent, extremely polite, friendly and welcoming. We had the Japanese breakfast which was really delicious. I loved how big our room was, it was all well worth the stay.

Private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. We booked the Suite with city view. Very nice spacious room with 3 beds. Beds are big, and comfy. The bathroom has a shower and a square bath. You almost feel you are in a 'spa'. Good tea and coffee pads. The hotel has only a few rooms with a beautiful cafe at the ground floor. You had to pick a breakfast time in advance so the table was reserved at Hid's Cafe & Bar, a popular place for hotel guests and others. Food was super healthy. Matcha Latte the best, coffee as well fabulous. Walking distance to the old town but also with some top restaurants in the street as well as izakayas near the train station.

Breakfast was amazing-fluffy pancakes & fruits and yakitori are a must. Location is great. Train station, bus center, and visitor center are located directly across the street. Just 2 minute walk. Laundry is a bonus!

Well situated in Takayama, Temple Hotel Takayama Zenkoji offers air-conditioned rooms, a garden, free WiFi and a shared lounge. This 4-star hotel offers a shared kitchen and luggage storage space. Private parking is available on site. We (my wife and I) stayed in the Zenko-Ji Temple hotel for one night and had a fantastic experience. We were greeted warmly right from the beginning by the friendly staff and could check in despite arriving a bit before the check-in time. After the quick check-in we had a small tour of the place and got an introduction to the temple and the various possible activities we can partake in. We had a lovely room (Sakura room), nothing fancy but very fitting to the place itself- traditional, simplistic yet comfortable. The next day we joined the morning prayer at 7:00 am which is highly recommended. Afterwards we also had a meditation session with the head monk who runs the temple/hotel. It was a great experience with some useful insights about meditation. Overall I would highly recommend staying here. It's not a place for a fancy stay but a place that can offer an insight to Buddhism in Japan, where you can have lovely conversations with the friendly staff and enjoy a peaceful environment.

The nearest airport is Komatsu Airport, 47 km from the property. It was like an oasis. Peaceful and calm. Only the necessary was on display. Locally produced furniture.

This traditional Japanese-style townhouse was created in collaboration with local artists and boasts designs with both modern and traditional Japanese influence. Guests will have the entire property to themselves during their stay. Excellent location next to the river and the old street. The Morning market is in 5 mins walking distance. The house keeps its traditional outlook but with modern facilities inside. Perfect to stay for a few days. Jackson gave us a warm welcome and explained in details about the house. Plan to revisit next year.
