Ideally located in the Hida Takayama Onsen district of Takayama, Relax Hotel Takayama Station is set 2.3 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village, 48 km from Gero Station and 700 metres from Fuji Folk Museum. Featuring a restaurant, the 4-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom. The property is 200 metres from the city centre and 100 metres from Takayama Station. Location was perfect, very near to Takayama station. Clean and spacious room, they provided free drinks in the minibar and kitchen was well equipped too. Front office staffs able to speak English well. Overall, great experience, very good value.

Private parking is available on site. Gorgeous place, a very unique experience. Very friendly staff there. Room was traditional and beautiful. Bonus that it came with its own washer and dryer. Got up to take part in the morning prayers and was glad I did - the head priest took the time afterwards to tell me a bit about Buddhism. I was there when it was snowing and it felt unreal to look out into the gorgeous little temple garden from my room. Would love to come back some day.

The nearest airport is Komatsu Airport, 47 km from the property. It’s really beautiful, very close from the express bus station (which I expect how most of the tourists access Shirakawa-go), the owners are super nice and wholesome, and serves a great meal plus super relaxing hot spring. I absolutely enjoyed my two days stay and made my first time ever trip to Shirakawa-go even more special. I strongly recommend to take the meals served (both dinner and breakfast) because they not only taste lovely but also very healthy! I will definitely revisit here if I come around Gifu-ken!

Renovated in 2015, IORI Stay is nestled in Takayama. This traditional Japanese-style townhouse was created in collaboration with local artists and boasts designs with both modern and traditional Japanese influence. Guests will have the entire property to themselves during their stay. The stay at IORI was definitely the most unique throughout our travel. The house is a traditional Japanese house made from wood, has a hot tub, a small garden and all the amenities of a modern home. The upstair bedrooms are very pretty and the beds are very comfortable. It is also conveniently located 5 min walk from the center of a beautiful old town with wonderful markets.
