Álftröð is 5 km from Brautarholt, a 30-minute drive to Geysir and Gullfoss Waterfall and a 40-minute drive to the Þingvellir National Park. There is a 360-degree mountain view from the guest house as well as a view of Hekla, Eyjafjallajökul and Tindfjöll, the most famous volcanoes in Iceland. The lodge was incredible. The breakfast could not have been done any better. There were horses on the property, and the owner allowed us to go visit and pet them. The living area has many large windows and in the early morning during sunrise was my absolute favorite.
Laugarvatn
This hotel is set on a farm within the Golden Circle Region, 15 minutes’ drive from Gulfoss Waterfall and Geysir hot water springs. It offers horse riding during the summer season, traditional cooking and a geothermal outdoor hot tub.
Efstidalur Farmhotel has Icelandic horses for hire, which is an ideal way to explore the surrounding countryside. Lake Laugarvatn is 12 km away.
We loved everything about the property. The room was very cozy and clean. The location was perfect (right in the middle of the golden circle). We also loved that we could get a delicious farm to table dinner on the property as well as ice cream and coffee. The staff was very friendly and we loved the dogs and cows.

Very nice farm hotel. Had a small cabin with a very nice view. Heated floor kept us warm. The restaurant had good food and home made ice-cream (yummy!). While eating you are able to look into the barn and watch the farm's cows.

Beautiful location in Geysir. Cute rustic little farm with horses and bunny rabbits running around. The kitchen facilities were good and the staff were friendly.
Lovely location! Skalholt is rural and gorgeous, in between farm land, beautiful scenery and the golden circle. We got a great deal for a last minute stay at the hotel and enjoyed watching the sunset over the church when we arrived. Our room didn't have a fridge so we were very grateful when the kind hostess lent us a mini one for our room. The room was comfortable, warm and had excellent block out blinds Sunrise the following morning when we left the hotel was a bonus, everything looked beautiful.
The place is lovely, a cute farmhouse surrounded by nature and equipped with all the comforts. I stayed in August 1 night: the value for money is outstanding, compared to the average prices of facilities found in Iceland
The surrounding is beautiful and quiet. The restaurant serves the high quality food from the farms around. It actually is the best dinner we had in Iceland for ten days. It has a barn with cows you can see through the viewing window and horse running happily outside.
The property was amazing!!! It was like an ultra modern farmhouse!! The amenities and furniture were stunning and the place was Loaded with bedrooms! Each member of our 8 person crew had a full bed to themselves! It was beautiful and clean!!
Gullfoss Hotel is perfectly placed in a rural setting on the Golden Circle (not really a circle) between the Gullfoss Falls and Geysir. The hotel has about 30 rooms, ours facing an escarpment and farmland, half of which are in a newer wing. The room was spacious and modern. The hotel has a good restaurant where breakfast is served but no other facilities. Breakfast was included and was good. Parking was just outside reception. A rough walking trail, 3km, to Gullfoss ran along the river gorge, doubling as a bridle trail.
Nice farmhouse near a river. We had a family room with bathroom: it was very clean with comfortable beds. We made ourselves dinner in the wel equipped kitchen (shop at about 15’ drive). Hanna was always around and super helpful. Breakfast was great.
