Athy
A Georgian farmhouse in the Kildare countryside, Moate Lodge near Athy provides individually designed rooms and a full breakfast menu. This dog-friendly guest house is around 1 hour’s drive from Dublin and offers free parking and Wi-Fi. Mary and Raymond were the kindest people we've met so far during our Ireland trip. Check-in went smoothly, the room was clean with comfortable heated beds. Bathroom had towels, shampoo and shower gel and overall very pleasent experience. We had an irish breakfast with tea and coffee, which was delicious. If I ever visited Ireland again, I would definitelly stay at the Moate Lodge. Raymond also gave us a lot of tips and info about interesting locations near there. We recommend the Lodge 10/10!

The lodge was the perfect place to stay, the hosts were welcoming, friendly and exceptionally helpful. The farm environment was very beautiful with tree-lined pathways and open green spaces to enjoy. A perfect retreat from city life!
The farm like atmosphere.
Quiet location, no noise from traffic despite being so close to Dublin. A fine old building with very well renovated barns in the courtyard. Friendly ambience and staff quite helpful. Breakfast adequate for anyone's appetite. Room clean, bed comfy, shower had plenty of power.
We stayed for 1 night as we were attending a concert in the area. The house is in a rural location and has lots of character and has a lived in homely feel to it. The owner, Jim, kindly dropped us to our venue. The room was cosy, had a big bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was self-service, continental and plentiful.
We had a brilliant stay with our children. The owners did their best to make us feel comfortable. The breakfast was beautiful, the surroundings were quiet and tranquil, and you aren't too far from towns, open farms, and attractions.
The farm was neat to see and hear about. The authentic house from when our country (US) became a country was neat to learn about and experience.
We vacationed in Ireland for 10 days, and of all the b & b's we stayed at, this was our favorite. Mary was a sweet and welcoming host. We got to walk around their farm and watch the cows being milked. There was a large selection for breakfast with homemade baked goods and fresh-squeezed orange juice. Many places claimed to have homemade baked goods, but this was the real thing. I highly recommend Ballindrum Farm.
Nice rural location and great scones!
It was a farming and ranching area and there were sheep pastured all around. Beautiful place to walk and enjoy nature. Quiet. The food was good and our host wonderful. I would stay here again.
18th Century farmhouse full of history which Raymond was happy to talk through. Home and gardens extremely well kept. It felt a home from home.
