This is going to be a long review, but if you are considering staying here and want a real, local Thai experience, keep reading. This place is NOT touristy and we were among a small handful of foreigners in the area during our stay. We stayed at KE for 3 days and it was one of my favorite destinations of the month long trip to SE Asia. Gail, Phillip, and Pen (Gail’s sister) are wonderfully warm and accommodating people who made our stay so special and unique. Gail (Kanlaya) gave us the most amazing tour of the area over several days. We drank local coffee which was grown nearby, with beans still warm from the day’s roasting, hand ground in front of us and prepared in the local fashion. We expressed interest in exploring caves and Gail took us all over and joined us as we navigated the sometimes treacherous caves. They provided us with local guides for the caves, one which included being chest deep in an underground river! Aside from hanging out with Gail (who I wished was my new best friend) we opted to have dinner at the property for two nights. And OMG, the food was unreal. very authentic northern Thai cuisine, made by Gail and her sister, Pen. The property itself has been carefully designed by the hosts, integrating the local geology and plants into the architecture. Phillip is an absolute thrill to chat with. He’s very knowledgeable on the culture and geology of the area and we enjoyed many lively fireside conversations in the evenings. Our room was decorated and designed with intense attention to detail. Wonderful views. Great birdwatching opportunities. Do not miss this opportunity! I cannot express this enough. Wonderful in every way. Thanks again for hosting us and showing us the magical beauty of Northern Thailand.

The staff of the property are very helpful , always with a smile on their faces ! I really enjoyed the vibe of the place and the traditional style of the property !

Great location a short walk from the Tham Lod cave. We didn’t get the room with balcony we had booked which was disappointing, however when we pointed this out we were refunded the difference. Price is good - room was adequate.

Great place, in the middle of the djungle. Very good food and amazing staff. Also great for kids! Only a 5 minutes walk to the Nam Lod cave. Shan herbal sauna available. Our kids absolutely loved that place! We will definitely come back!

Cave lodge is beautifully situated in the jungle next to Ban Tham Lot - right between all of the hilltribe villages. It's a great place to book hiking, kayaking and caving trips. Tham Lot cave is a short walk away. The staff is super accommodating and kind, and the place itself is a lot of fun to just hang out in.

wonderful atmosphere, i wish we would have stayed at least 3 nights! The space is welcoming you to calm down, live with nature and explore the beautiful area around it. We did a kayak tour which was really fun and the food and drinks are also very good! Thank you for providing us with such a special place in thailand :)

the main cafe/ social area is so nice and comfy but the room was actually amazing! I wasn’t expecting much from a little lodge on the river but the bathroom was extremely modern and the bed was huge. We did one of the many trips the lodge provides as well kayaking through the caves and it was so cool and fun, cannot believe how much of a hidden gem this place really is.

Fantastic view with a spectacular Jacuzi on the forest’s mist. The room in general is extraordinary well designed and demonstrates the love of Philips and his family for the place. Super!
