We had a lovely stay in the Rock retreat. It was very clean and beautifully presented. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a decent meal.
We had plenty of firewood to keep warm on a very cold weekend. The bed was super comfy. Overall a great weekend to shut off from technology and enjoy the mountains

Clean tidy great location, nicely appointed room (no dish clothes to owner)
As families grow in size, so too do the needs of a family holiday. That’s why family hotels are set up to cater for all ages, from toddlers and kids to teens and adults. Typically, you can expect restaurants with kids’ menus, games rooms, fitness centres and a pool area where children can play and parents can relax.
We stayed in the ship. It was fun for our children and we could look at the other accommodation. There's a few farm animals around which the kids enjoyed meeting
Fun themed room. We expected it to be dated but the room was spacious inside and clean.
Heating was on when we arrived, which was a lovely touch.
Enough towels for all of us. Very easy to be comfortable.
Location is perfect for Glow Worm cave.
Convenience store and pub close by for meals (Convenience store closes earlier than advertised - so get supplies early)
Go to town before you check in if you need food supplies, as it's quite a long windy drive to motel
Our stay was good. It worked well for a family of 6. It was comfortable and had all the facilities we needed. The scenery was awesome. It was fun staying on a boat 🚢 onland
Great value for money.
Unfortunately we were just stopping for the night on our way through, but for a longer stay i would highly recommend. Full self contained dwellings, clean and tidy. Our cabin had 4 single beds in one room and a queen in the living area. Plenty for larger groups or families. Full functioning kitchen and bathroom you seriously could not ask for more
This place certainly lives up to its name 'the view' (Te Tiro). The cottage we stayed in was cosy and comfortable for our family but we especially enjoyed exploring some of the walks on the farm and sneaking the kids out at night to see the glow worms (a two minute walk from our cottage). The hosts were friendly and welcoming, and my family all agreed that this was our favorite accommodation in New Zealand yet! I can't recommend this place enough!
The Waitomo Caves Guest Lodge exceeded expectations. Lynn and Richy were so sweet and welcoming, we felt as if we were with family. The Rukari Bushwalk was fantastic and nearby and the Caves in general are well worth the trip. The room was clean and exactly as described. Our only regret is not spending another night at the village.
