Just 250 metres from Zenko-ji Temple, Matsuya Ryokan offers simple Japanese rooms with tatami-mat floors, a green-tea maker and an attached Western bathroom. The hotel features public baths.

Guests at Jizokan Matsuya Ryokan stay in rooms with shoji paper screens and traditional futon bedding. All rooms are air-conditioned and include a TV and slippers.

This place gave me a family feelings. It’s not like a normal hotel where they treat you as a guest. When I came back to the hotel, I saw grandma and grandpa watching TV, like they’re waiting for family members to come back home. All services they gave me made me feel like I was their family, especially the Thai staff. Since We’re both from Thailand so she helped me speaking with Japanese staff when I need assistance.

Property nestled amongst countryside neighborhood with lush apple orchards and grape fields. Kids most welcomed with BBQ available, his Tokyo cat also most adorable. Simply the best accomodation I have experienced anywhere! Our stay with Maki, her Mother and Kenta dog was relaxing and magical after a week in Tokyo and Maki does absolutley everything to make you feel welcome and at home with her gentle, warm hospitality, The Ryokan itself is an elegant traditional building and is beautifully kept. The amazing Kaiseki dinner and breakfasts that Makis mother presents every night are a wonderful way to experience traditional japanese food after a relaxing onsen bath. Maki was simply the best host, she even drove us up to the start of our walk trail and booked our lunchtime soba restaurant. The local area is breathtaking even in late autumn / early winter and a walk around the shrines is enough to fill a very pleasant day, Wel ove you Maki and we will be back!

The food was great. We could not finish dinner because they gave us so much delicious food like boar and monkfish. Breakfast was also very filling and definitely worth the money because there are not many restaurants in the area. The staff was very nice - giving us a full tour when we checked in and were very friendly and approachable. The public onsen was nice as well as our private one. They made our futons for us in our room during dinner. Everything was clean enough. They spoke very limited English, but had translations pre-prepared for most things. I was able to get by with simple Japanese. They also gave you quite a bit of amenities like shampoo, skincare, aftershave, socks, and water bottles. Overall, our stay was very comfortable and I enjoyed it.

Excellent location. Just 2 minutes walk from station. Friendly and efficient staff. The welcome donuts were a nice surprise and delicious! The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. I appreciated the extras, such as pillow library in reception area, toys and games to borrow. We were impressed with the breakfast too, which was a very affordable add-on to room price. Enough options for us even though we’re a vegetarian family with fussy kids!

Oshi Ryokan was a family favourite- even the teenagers were impressed. The service and food were incredible. The rooms had amazing views and the bedding was very warm and comfortable. The bathrooms are shared and within the unheated shared area- it is cold when you go to the bathroom at night- it didn't bother us at all but is worth noting. Definitely a mix of rustic and luxury here! The location was perfect for hiking around the shrines and skiing!

The 10+8 tatami room was big enough for family with young kids, lovely traditional dinner and breakfast sets. Location right by temple grounds along pedestrian street with snack stalls and a Starbucks, and if you cross onto Omotesando you'll find several more sweet shops. Easy ryokan experience for city kids.
