We thought we booked a ryokan.. but I turned out to be a beach villa. The ryokan has a couple of beach villa’s outside the ryokan. The beach villa had beach front, but was very European. Nothing Japanese. It was not so cozy. We asked if we could eat in the ryokan next door, and luckily we could. The food was very good and the ladies who worked there were very kind. The ryokan itself looked very nice, for the part we have seen.
The beach villa had thin walls so we heared every noise. There was no hot water in the morning snd the airconditioning made a loud noise, which kept us awake all night. Unfortunately we spend to much money for this accommodation.

This guesthouse was a pleasant surprise with a very kind and generous host, home cooked breakfast, free water/tea, very clean amenities and quiet nights in a tastefully decorated old Japanese house. Definitely recommendable!

Beautiful Japanese style spacious room with big windows facing the river. Despite a busy road nearby, the rooms very very quiet (I slept with my window open). Excellent coffee in the morning served in Bodum glasses- a nice touch!

I liked it so much I wanted to stay there again on my way back to Fukuoka, but then I had to change my plans.

Amazing stay in this guesthouse ! There is everything you need and the room is very comfortable. Very close to the castle and the beach, and the city center is just a few minutes away by walk.

The house is Japanese style and the facilities are very convenient. It is at a great location, close to the Family Mart, Karatsujo, the seaside and some good restaurants.
It is a house in the central area of Karatzu, the house is huge, very intimate, very well cared for, very well decorated with love, with a huge kitchen. The sleeping area is located on the upper floor and the staircase to reach it is narrow, therefore not suitable for people with mobility problems or children, but it is also possible to sleep on the ground floor. The house is worth a stay, a splendid atmosphere. The parking lot is located a few meters away and the self check in was very easy and smooth
This place it neatly kept and maintained to perfection. The family thay runs this ryokan and the staff are all dedicated to provide a great experience of professional hospitality; the ambience and food are exellent. The rennovated roykan is beatiful; within it there is a most impressive gallery of local pottery. All are immerssed in a magnificent traditional Japanese garden. This ryokan is a top class.
