Due to the recent floods in north eastern Italy we had to change our travel plans and booked at the last minute. The room was pretty basic but comfortable. Lovely views over the countryside and nice outside area. Very peaceful and lovely breakfast provided.

Whilst the trend is for reviewers (including myself at times !) to score places quite 'generously' Contarine is a genuine 10/10. Set in the beautiful Colli Euganei this 'Pension' is family run and offers superb value accomodation and food. There is secure on site parking. The hostess is helpful, friendly, speaks fluent English and an excellent housekeeper. The host cooks and serves local produce (including his own cured meats, pasta, wines etc). The excellent plentiful breakfast was included in the room price and for 70 euro the pair of us had delicious three course dinners including their own wine and a limoncello ! The very efficient, quiet, air conditioning was welcome in the unusually hot weather we had when staying. The Colli Ennui has a host of medieval/historic sites or Venice can be reached in an hour by parking free at a local station and taking a regular train direct to the Grand Canal; Padua is a 25 minute drive (if you don't want to take the train ! )

The property is located in a beautiful spot overlooking the Euganei hills. it is clean and has a homely feel. Massimo the host took the greatest care in helping us to have the best stay possible, he was extremely welcoming and offered some great advice on local things to do. There was a lovely help yourself breakfast available at no extra charge (and some Easter eggs as it was Easter weekend which my toddler was very happy about). I would love to return to La Locanda!

The location is perfect to explore the area, both within the Colli Euganei park and to visit nearby towns. The closest town has everything one needs for the stay, including shops and restaurant. The venue also has a restaurant that however we didn't have time to try (next time for sure!)
