During our recent trip to the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, we had the pleasure of staying at a beautifully refurbished heritage haveli that seamlessly blends historic charm with modern comfort. The exterior of the haveli has been meticulously preserved, maintaining its traditional grandeur while the interiors have been thoughtfully modernized.
The rooms are a testament to elegant design, combining contemporary amenities with tasteful decor that respects the haveli's historical essence. Each room is a stylish retreat, offering a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing environment that enhances the overall experience.
One of the standout features of our stay was the opportunity to explore both the haveli itself and its surroundings. The property is rich with character, and wandering through its intricate courtyards and detailed architecture felt like stepping back in time. Additionally, the haveli serves as an excellent base for discovering the Shekhawati region. This area, known for its neglected and dilapidated heritage, is brought to life through this unique accommodation, offering guests a chance to experience its cultural and historical richness.
The food served at the haveli was delightful, featuring local flavors that complemented the regional ambiance. The service was attentive and courteous, ensuring that our needs were met with warmth and efficiency.
In summary, this refurbished heritage haveli provides a captivating and comfortable stay, offering a perfect blend of historic charm and modern luxury. It’s an ideal choice for travellers looking to explore the Shekhawati region while enjoying the comforts of a beautifully restored historic property.
Located in Mandāwa, Desert Nights features a garden, shared lounge and free WiFi. Featuring room service, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace.

Excellent food and quite place for family retreat.
As families grow in size, so too do the needs of a family holiday. That’s why family hotels are set up to cater for all ages, from toddlers and kids to teens and adults. Typically, you can expect restaurants with kids’ menus, games rooms, fitness centres and a pool area where children can play and parents can relax.
Wonderful self sustaining eco-lodge in the midst of a rural setting….the family are gracious hosts and the simple satvic vegetarian food is delicious….
Amazing experience living in a big house with Rajesh and his family. His wife cooks delicious and varied local dishes using fresh vegetables grown in the area. Rajesh limits his visitors to a small handful at a time so living here is an intimate experience and a great way to meet other travellers. Rajesh has such a passion for the Shekawati region and runs very informative tours to the greenest and most beautiful parts of countryside and to some of the less touristed (but no less beautiful) havelis.
This is definitely the best spot to explore the region. Rajesh and his family have been really helpful and give precious advice. The food was great and I really enjoyed having pani purris there.
Rajesh and his family welcomed us in their beautiful house. the experience has been very nice. we really enjoyed taking time with the family and sharing about our life. we took a cooking class and breakfast: all homemade with heart ! we highly recommend Tourist pension !
An incredible place, Rajesh and his family were wonderful hosts - friendly, engaging and helpful with recommendations (Rajesh even drove me to a nearby village he was visiting to let me look around). The homestay was wonderfully clean, and made for a great base to explore Nawalgarh. Vegetarian meal options are available - just be sure to give the family advance notice if you want to eat with them for a particular meal, as they’ll start the cooking a few hours in advance.
Nawalgarh feels very much off the beaten-track (though only ~2h from Jaipur); Rajesh is the perfect guide to explore the surrounding countryside and havelis with. Rooms spotless and nicely decorated, and delicious food cooked by his wife Salah (whose cookery class was also fun!).
