Vivaana, hotel in Mandāwa

A meticulously restored 19th century Shekhawati Haveli (private mansion), Vivaana features walls with mural paintings and artefacts.

During our recent trip to the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, we had the pleasure of staying at a beautifully refurbished heritage haveli that seamlessly blends historic charm with modern comfort. The exterior of the haveli has been meticulously preserved, maintaining its traditional grandeur while the interiors have been thoughtfully modernized. The rooms are a testament to elegant design, combining contemporary amenities with tasteful decor that respects the haveli's historical essence. Each room is a stylish retreat, offering a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing environment that enhances the overall experience. One of the standout features of our stay was the opportunity to explore both the haveli itself and its surroundings. The property is rich with character, and wandering through its intricate courtyards and detailed architecture felt like stepping back in time. Additionally, the haveli serves as an excellent base for discovering the Shekhawati region. This area, known for its neglected and dilapidated heritage, is brought to life through this unique accommodation, offering guests a chance to experience its cultural and historical richness. The food served at the haveli was delightful, featuring local flavors that complemented the regional ambiance. The service was attentive and courteous, ensuring that our needs were met with warmth and efficiency. In summary, this refurbished heritage haveli provides a captivating and comfortable stay, offering a perfect blend of historic charm and modern luxury. It’s an ideal choice for travellers looking to explore the Shekhawati region while enjoying the comforts of a beautifully restored historic property.

Narayan Niwas Castle, hotel in Mandāwa

Offering a barbecue and children's playground, Narayan Niwas Castle is located in Rāmgarh in the Rajasthan Region. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Free private parking is available on site.

When I travel, especially when solo, I seek places that are amidst nature and away from touristy noise as much as possible. I chose Narayan Niwas looking at the reviews and it was exactly meeting the high praise of guests. You get the feel of a real royal residence here with this 18th century castle and we are lucky that the place is open to stay for tourists. This is the best view in Mahansar easily to soak in the village life around, sights and sounds and beautiful sunrise and sunsets. The room I stayed in (top floor) was basic but had all essential facilities, and of course, great views and aspects of history attached to it. I liked the climbs up and down the castle, reminded me of our own ancestral haveli in Jaipur. The hospitality of owner, Thakur Maheshwar Singh Ji and the staff (Sita, Mangloo) was top notch. I will cherish my long conversations with Thakur Ji who is a storehouse of knowledge and history. The food was home style yet very different and tasty, especially the rice pulao and tomato sabzi, and Dal Bati spread. They also helped design my 2 day itinerary and provided the best guides to me (Rajesh, Mudita) for my exploration of Shekhawati. I was completely taken care of at a personal level right from arriving by train until leaving back for Jaipur. I recommend Narayan Niwas for anyone looking for history over luxury, authenticity over modern-day décor. Cheers to Mahansar!

Room is spacious and full of character. As a family of four we booked 2 double rooms which were both very nicely decorated and inside a old haveli, very well kept. Rooms and beds clean. Location is perfect. The whole property is a must see, a dive in history Owners and staff super friendly, they even drove us around at night looking for a music performance. Nice garden for aperitivo and nice food in the restaurant.

The haveli has amazing paintings. The standard room was very cosy. Had air conditioning and ceiling fan. Our room had a nice balcony with a swing, which we enjoyed very much. Staff was very kind, welcoming, always smiling. Would do anything to make you feel at home. Dinner and breakfast was super tasty and very affordable. Good variation in the food menu. Rooms and bathroom was very clean.

It’s a hidden gem. Small, great atmosphere, functional and spacious rooms, very friendly staff and fab Indian food. Try the spicy lamb curry and the daal with garlic naan. The village is worth a stroll and very photogenic during the sunset illumination.

Mandawa is a small town so you are never far away from the sights. So, a great location. The room was fun but take away the paintings and mine was quite basic but clean and comfortable, and that is really what matters. The food was excellent and fresh. Really enjoyed eating outside in the cooler evening. Staff exceedingly friendly, fun and helpful. If you are staying go up to the roof to enjoy the view, especially with a cold beer!

The hotel itself gave us a great experience (easy check in, large room, helpful staff, well maintained facilities, tasty menu, live and qualitative entertainment, and an in-house spa). But the difference is how the hotel features its history of renovation, the culture of the region, the preserved decor, in harmony with an old haveli, nature and the new requirement of guests. I do recommend for friends trip, family vacation, for children time off (very safe architecture and buoys at disposal at the pool) and weddings.
