The property is set high on the hills overlooking Heraklion and the wine valleys .. the view is stunning .. the villa we stayed in was very comfortable and blended in well with the environment.. my husband and I used the pool both days and could relax next to it enjoying the scenery and near by goat herds .. Elena and her husband were always very friendly and what a magnificent spread she cooked and delivered to our room for dinner, catering generously with home cooked vegetarian meals for me and lamb from the farm for my husband .. most of the produce for dinner and the plentiful breakfast comes from the farm or neighbouring areas.. we would definitely stay here again ..

Kamihis is in a beautiful farmhouse in an olive and carob tree farm, lovely and calm and secluded. They’ve really thought about how to make the stay comfortable - sun lounger chairs, an outdoor dining table with shades to block out the sun, lovely bedding. Michalis shows you how to work everything when you arrive - oil lamps, candles, different types of taps. The breakfast is amazing and can feed you for lunch too, and there’s a fridge and small kitchen space so you can pack things away. We didn’t have a car so just stayed on the farm and really relaxed reading our books in the sun all day. We also did the farm tour which is good fun. Michalis gave us a lift into town one evening where there is a really nice restaurant where you get a set menu. We then walked back (it’s uphill into town and downhill on the way back!) which took about 30mins. Wouldn’t want to do it in the pitch black but it was fine at sunset. The little pool at the front of the house is lovely for cooling down in.

The village of Krousonas is charming. We had the luck to visit during a local festival - and although the music from the town center kept us up until past midnight, it was the highlight of our trip. It is in a perfect location - away from Iraklio, with a beautiful road leading up to the village (<20min). The property is somewhat secluded, near the top of the village. Feels secure, with a large door/wall providing an entrance. The bedroom is large, with plenty windows, and a very nice balcony allowing you to see the village, Iraklio and the ocean from far. The host is responsive.
