I normally stay at branded hotels but decided to choose something a bit more independent. The staff were excellent - friendly and cheerful.
The food was good and made to order.

We happened across The Compasses Inn as we needed somewhere to stay locally for work, but had no idea what a treat we had in store. The attention to detail of the team here is second to none and the rooms are excellent and well appointed.
We had to leave before breakfast service on our first morning, and so were treated to a hamper of beautifully presented and delicious goodies left outside our room. The cooked breakfast on our second day was also superb.
Make sure you book ahead for dinner, as this place is rightly enormously popular. The menu is well curated, and excellently executed. The bar/restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere, and such charmingly hosts.

The location, the very tidiness of the whole place
As families grow in size, so too do the needs of a family holiday. That’s why family hotels are set up to cater for all ages, from toddlers and kids to teens and adults. Typically, you can expect restaurants with kids’ menus, games rooms, fitness centres and a pool area where children can play and parents can relax.
We were made very welcome by the family when we arrived, and our stay was in the main farmhouse which had a lot of character. Maggie cooked us excellent breakfasts with fresh eggs from the farm. We were made to feel like staying home from home - Thanks
Great location perfect for Longleat Safari Park with our daughter. Huge room for us as a family. Very friendly and personable hosts made us very welcome. Loved that our daughter was made so welcome and that her breakfast was brought out first so she didn’t have to wait, makes all the difference with a toddler.
Beautiful little cottage with lovely little fetures. Little Park across the road for the kids which was brilliant. Close to a lot of activities and sights. We stayed for our trip to longleat which is only a 15min drive away. The bath was lovely too

The children loved the fish in the pond, the cat and the chickens. The breakfast was lovely with home laid eggs.
Located in a quiet village and perfect for our visit to Longleat. Nice to have a warm cosy place to go back to after spending the day there. We all slept really well. Perfect for a family getaway.
