The staff were exceptional, room and food excellent. The location was superb, the scenery out of this world and the view from my room was wonderful looking right over the lake.

As families grow in size, so too do the needs of a family holiday. That’s why family hotels are set up to cater for all ages, from toddlers and kids to teens and adults. Typically, you can expect restaurants with kids’ menus, games rooms, fitness centres and a pool area where children can play and parents can relax.
Excellent location, lovely staff and great breakfast. Lovely place to sit outside and relax next to Windermere, perfect weather was a bonus. Lots of parking. We had a family room for 3 adults, large room with kingsize bed and sofa bed very comfortable and clean.
Wouldnt hesitate to go back, also you could hire paddleboards and canoes a few minutes walk away, great fun.
Great location. Family room (with the bath) was brilliant and perfect for families up to 4 people (and babies/toddlers). Everywhere was spotless and all amenities were modern and ‘fresh’.
Room was spacious and clean with a little private sitout. Staff was very helpful and pleasant, the laundry facility for a small number of clothes was a lifesaver, breakfast was fresh, tasty but adding a few child-friendly options like pancakes would have made it fab. The location was superb, you could walk to everything in town leaving the car behind in their car park. A highlight was the jacuzzi bath tub, great after a fell walk.
We had side by side rooms to fit our family of 5. The rooms were well equipped with dishes. We also appreciated the extra seating so that we could all hang out in the larger room to watch a movie. The location was great. Easy walk to a Roman Fort, the lakefront, pubs, and also walkable into Ambleside. Our kids loved the hot tub. Staff were friendly.
Family room was lovely - very spacious and warm - liked that the kids were in a separate corner behind a curtain
The door that led to the carpark was very handy for getting stuff to the room without hassle
Beds are comfortable and we liked the seating area
Smart TVs were great for a cosy night in - as were the abundant cushions on the beds!
Staff are super friendly
Breakfast buffet was plentiful and varied
Powerful shower with plenty of hot water
Brilliant location within steps of the shops and pubs of Ambleside
The hotel was a great location, right in the centre of town and less than a mile from the pier. There is a shuttle bus that stops right outside the hotel if you don’t/can’t walk.
The family room was a perfect size. I liked that there was a sofa bed rather than bunks for the children. Lovely and clean and room was made up each day (rare since Covid in most hotels!).
What stands out here though are the staff - they were all so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I couldn’t speak more highly of them.
Pub and restaurant are great. All I expected and hoped for in a ‘pub inn hotel restaurant ‘. Staff was very kind, helpful and fun ! Our family room was very big, and the bathroom very modern and clean. The surroundings are stunning. We stayed here the first night of our arrival in Lakedistrict and made a beautiful walk along the lake, played in the stream and climbed trees just in front of the hotel. The gardens and Wordsworth house also nextdoor. Kids asked straight away if we could stay there the rest of the holiday
Visited with family and had a fabulous time. Excellent facilities, lovely atmosphere and staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. Very clean, quiet at night, great location for the lakes, minutes away from most places. We had loads of fun in the games room - pool, ping pong, table football (and not an ipad or technology in sight and the kids loved it). Would definetely return!
