Amid a forest is located Hotel de Montaña Suria, a property that offers free Wi-Fi connection throughout and complimentary breakfast with your stay. The place also has terraces to enjoy the views of Los Quetzales National Park.

Hotel Suria is in a great location, near the river. It has a beautiful dining room and gardens, nice rooms, and friendly, gracious staff. We traveled from SJO in a private van to the valley with Adobe Tours, March 2023, for $182 US. I recommend you do the country a favor and not drive the mountains yourself, as roads are rough and CR has a wonderful system of shuttles and drivers.

Located in San Gerardo de Dota, 19 km from Cerro de la Muerte, Lauraceas Lodge provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. The accommodation features room service and free WiFi throughout the property.

This was the best hotel we stayed in, in 5 weeks in Costa Rica. Everything was perfect, the design of the buildings, the aesthetics and attention to detail, the level of comfort, the service, the food, the cocktails(!) I have travelled a lot but this is one of the places in the world that will stay with me for a long time. Because of the altitude it does get chilly at night so come prepared and make adjustments as needed. For example, we would take a shower while it was still warm, in the late afternoon, rather than first thing in the morning.

Large ptivate cabine close to nature with large balcony facing the mountain. We saw green toucanets from the balcony while having breakfast! Comfortable bed with lots of blankets. Hot water available. Large parking area. No kitchen but tea and coffee machine in the cabine. Don't be too late for check-in as road to get there is a steep and it is not easy to drive at night.

Iyok Ami (Madre Tierra) is situated in Cartago, 43 km from Manuel Antonio and 42 km from San José. The bed and breakfast is child-friendly and offers views of the mountain, and guests can request dinner. Free private parking is available on site.

We planned to visit the Quetzal National Park but instead we booked 2 nights in Iyok Ami, like a friend of us recommend it too us. And the least I can say is that we weren’t disappointed ! The place is situated close to the road, 10 mins away (by car) from the Quetzal National Park entrance. The first thing we noticed when we arrived is the silence. It’s so quiet and peaceful ! The hostel is mainly made in wood. Because it’s fresh outside (don’t forget you are in altitude in a cloudy forest) on evening Bedrich make fire. The rooms are super cosy and very confortable. But the main thing about this place is the fact that you have access to more than 5km of trail which is why we came and stayed there instead going in the National Park. Several trails are available from debutant to difficult level (when I say difficult that mean you have strong steps going through hills sometime and you have to walk through roots). You have the feeling you are walking in a Jurassic forest. We managed to see Quetzal in the tree just in front of the living room. Except that, Bedrich is super friendly, and the food is super good. Also this place is really affordable: breakfast included (gallo pinto or the best pancakes of Costa Rica ! 🥞). I strongly recommend it 👍🏻 !

Beautiful surroundings - we fell asleep listening to the waterfall. The room is lovely and clean with comfortable features and the shower was clean and hot (a rarity in Costa Rica!) Friendly family and the restaurant serves huge, tasty, homemade food. We wished we had stayed longer!

This location takes some effort to arrive at...a 4x4 is definitely needed! Having said that, it is totally worth the trip for a very unique experience! The Valley is a true gem and leaves you with a heartfelt sense of community! Juan made us feel welcome and so happy that we had spent time at Tami Lodge! His on site restaurant offered affordable, delicious meals. Alonzo, our guide, took us out for early morning birding and shared much info as he patiently worked at locating the Queztel...success 😃 All the staff were attentive and friendly.

The setting is stunning, the staff are very kind and helpful and the food is delicious. There are a number of activities on offer. We did the quetzal tour with Alonso as a very knowledgeable and passionate guide. He not only found the quetzals for us but was also very warm-hearted company and great with our kids (7 and 12 years). We also tried the forest adventure park which was great fun. When we found out last minute that we needed to get to the airport sooner than expected Juan (the manager) sorted this out very effectively.

Amazing place in the middle of the quetzal national parc. You need a 4×4 drive to get there. You'll be rewarded with a stunning view and really friendly and pationated people crazy about their little place and nature around. The breakfast and food in the restaurant owned by the caretaker of tami lodge was very good. We hired a local guide Alonso for birdwatching and the adventure parc and both was rewarded with a lot of fun and exquisit views of the quetzal birds and more. Need to do!
