Offering a year-round outdoor pool and views of the mountains, 正揚大飯店 is located in Renai in the Nantou County Region, 43 km from Hualien City. The best part is the hotel's hot spring in the back. Breakfast was also very simple but tasty (for Taiwanese). The rooms are functional and have mountain/valley views. Overall, Lushan is a very interesting area. Once upon a time, it was obviously a vibrant hot spring resort town but now it sits empty. Typhoons and landslides have led the government to condemn most of the buildings. The closed hotels are filled with rocks silt. Shops are trying their hardest to keep going. It's hard to imagine a recovery for this area, despite the immutable soothing natural hot springs. What a fascinating tale. Definitely worth a visit, but not on a rainy day.

Iris Farmhouse is a homestay situated in the Cingjing district of Renai. The property has mountain and lake views. There is a restaurant serving Asian cuisine, and free private parking is available. Lady at the reception (the owner) was charming and gave us amazing home-made cookies. Breakfast is great (although it seems not to be included in the price, I guess it is the only option available: bed & breakfast). Area is nice and the view, even with a little fog, is great.

清境依山舞林民宿 is a homestay set in the Cingjing district of Renai. The property has mountain views. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. 1. The view from the property was beautiful and very peaceful. It is in the mountains and next to a leafy greens farm. 2. The bathroom in our room was super nice. It was very roomy and had a japanese toilet. 3. The B&B also had optional hot pot available for dinner. (For an extra fee of course) The hot pot was delicious and very convenient. 4. The room was sparkling clean and parking was easy to locate.

Yun Meng Xianjing Homestay is a guest house located in the Cingjing district of Renai. This guest house provides air-conditioned accommodation with a patio. The guest house features family rooms. We enjoyed our stay at Misty Villa (运梦民宿) at Cingjing (清境). The room we stayed was cosy. View from our balcony was nice and we managed to catch sight of the sunrise.
